Brazil and Romania

WORLD CONGRESS OF FAMILIES DECRIES BRAZILIAN PRESIDENT’S CALL TO CRIMINALIZE OPPOSITION TO HOMOSEXUALITY-"Brazilian President Luiz Lula’s description of opposition to homosexuality as “perhaps the most perverse disease impregnated in the human head,”....“Now he’s saying that opposition to perversion is worse than racism, anti-Semitism or the totalitarian impulse.”..Besides labeling opposition to the radical homosexual agenda a mental disorder, Lula called for the criminalization of said dissent. The Brazilian President assured the audience that he is “going to do all that is possible so that the criminalization of homophobia and the civil union may be approved.” Jacobs observed, “This has always been the ultimate goal of the international homosexual movement: to make opposition to homosexuality a crime -- to suppress free speech and criminalize dissent.” Jacobs called Lula’s pronouncement “a direct assault on religion and the family,” which, he promised, “pro-family forces around the world will resist.” World Congress of Families recently garnered the support of 110 pro-family leaders from 23 countries for a petition in support of Romania’s pending move to define marriage as the union of a man and a woman."

California

Kern County clerk targeted due to her opposition to marriage redefinition-"Ann Barnett says she’s always tried to do the right thing, whether for her church, her five children, her husband of 31 years or the people she serves as Kern County’s elected clerk and auditor-controller. So she’s bewildered by the anger that’s come her way since she decided — just before gay marriages become legal — to stop holding all civil weddings at her county offices. On Thursday, she appeared stung by critics who have labeled her a “religious terrorist” and called for her resignation; by the hate mail that has flooded her office; by the unceasing requests for interviews, so many that she has unplugged her home phone . . ."-The LA Times

Norway

Norway OK's Homosexual "Marriages" and Adoptions-"Norway has become the sixth country in the world to give homosexuals the legal right to "marry,"...Norwegian television reported that Labour party member Gunn Karin Gjul said, "This decision is of an importance comparable to universal suffrage and our law on parity."...In 2006, Ireland's highest court rejected a lesbian couple's demand to have their Canadian "marriage" recognized in Ireland, citing harm to children as one of the determining factors in the ruling....An interview by Zenit news service with Dale O'Leary, a writer and researcher for the Catholic Medical Association discussed the dangers of same-sex couples adopting children. O'Leary explained that "a same-sex couple has, by definition, two persons at high risk for psychological disorders. The studies published in the Archives of General Psychiatry found that persons self-identified as homosexual in comparison to the general public had almost double the rate of suicidal ideation or attempts, substance abuse problems and psychological disorders. One of the studies found that 78.6% of the gay, lesbian or bisexual group suffered from multiple disorders." "And there are other problems: Domestic violence is more common among same-sex couples. Men with same-sex attractions are more likely to become infected with a STD, including HIV, hepatitis or HPV, which can lead to cancer. Thus, several studies suggest that 50% of men who have sex with men will become HIV positive before age 50.""

2005 Polish Volleyball Champion Sacrificed Her Life for Unborn Child-"Auxiliary Bishop Marian Florczyk of Kielce, Poland has said that Mroz's testimony is an example of "love of life, motherhood, the desire to give life, the heroic love of an unborn child." On June 4, a few hours after Mroz's death, Polish President Lech Kaczynski announced that she will be posthumously awarded the Polonia Restituta, one of Poland's highest awards for extraordinary and distinguished service."

McCain and Obama

McCain Meets Privately with Fr. Pavone - Says Constitutional Right to Life Applies to Unborn-"In his prayer before McCain spoke, Father Pavone prayed that the "Lord would let all Christians know they are still His sons and daughters when they are in the voting booth."..The first issue addressed by McCain was abortion. He said that the "noblest words ever written" were "the inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." McCain believes that those words "apply to the unborn." He reminded the Philadelphia Catholics of his pro-life voting record, adding that he would "maintain that commitment" if elected president....McCain talked about the "stark contrast" between himself and Sen. Barack Obama on the life issue - the evidence being Obama's vote against the ban on partial-birth abortion and his opposition, as a state senator, to legal protection for babies born during an abortion procedure."-Must see report on Obama including quotes from his own web site concerning this issue here.
