New York Times ‘Wouldn’t Recognize’ Real Scandal-"In his Tuesday morning interview with Fox News, Thompson also talked about McCain’s running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who “excites people like I’ve never seen.” He criticized the liberal media for trying to discredit a woman of accomplishment: “I noticed the New York Times this morning had three stories on their front page that are essentially about Sarah Palin’s children. I don’t think they get it. I don’t think they have a clue as to what is going on out in the country …They are trying their best to drag her down in any way and apply a double standard to her that they wouldn’t apply to anybody else,” Thompson said."
Savaging Sarah Palin-"The media’s treatment of Palin was nothing like their approval for Joe Biden, Obama’s running mate, the week before. The Washington Post called the Biden selection an “infusion of experience and aggressiveness,” and he was “a sharp-witted and energetic foreign policy expert.” There was no mention that Biden was a liberal, or that while National Journal found Obama to be the most liberal senator in 2007, Biden came in close behind in third place. When Palin was picked, the Post couldn’t stop pounding away on her conservatism. The lead story underlined: “The self-described 'hockey mom' brings a blue-collar conservatism and strong antiabortion views to the ticket.” Another story on the front-page called her “the pro-gun, antiabortion governor of Alaska.” The caption under her picture noted Palin was “a conservative with strong antiabortion views.”..... ABC and CNN also used the Bristol news to lecture the Republicans about their hypocrisy on sex education in high schools, wildly presuming Gov. Palin’s daughter didn’t know how babies were made. The agenda seemed clear: keep Palin constantly under attack, and suggest perhaps McCain should just dump her and go find someone else ... for the media to brutalize. John McCain made a bold choice in not merely picking a woman, but picking a pro-life woman courageous enough to put her motherhood where her mouth is. Now the media want him to pay dearly for it. The idea that they would lecture anyone else about rumor-mongering or “Swift-boating” ought to be laughed off the public stage."
Obama can't even control the media that is on his side
‘Back Off These Kinds of Stories,’ Obama Says-""Let me be a clear as possible," Sen. Obama said on Monday: "I have said before and I will repeat again, I think people's families are off limits and people's children are especially off limits....if I ever thought that it was somebody in my campaign that was involved in something like that, they’d be fired."....Bauer now chairs the Campaign for Working Families, a group that describes itself as “unapologetically pro-family, pro-life, and pro-growth. Dr. Charmaine Yoest, president and CEO of Americans United for Life, said although this is not what Sarah Palin wished for her daughter, “the way we react to life's challenges is the true testament to our character.” But all this attention has brought to light an important issue!!! "Until Monday, teen pregnancy and sex education were not issues in the national political campaign. According to the Associated Press, Sarah Palin -- in a 2006 questionnaire distributed to gubernatorial candidates -- said that “explicit sex-ed program will not find my support.”...In 2006, McCain joined fellow Republicans in voting against a Senate Democratic proposal to send $100 million to communities for teen-pregnancy prevention programs that would have included sex education about contraceptives. In 2005, McCain opposed a Senate Democratic proposal that would have spent tens of millions of dollars to pay for pregnancy prevention programs other than abstinence-only education, including education on emergency contraception such as the morning-after pill. The bill also would have required insurance companies that cover Viagra to also pay for prescription contraception."
So if not even Obama can stop them let us instead of getting frustrated with the media continue to use it, expose it and get into it
‘Ludicrous’ to Say Palin Has Less Experience Than Obama, McCain Says-"Is Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin the best choice to be a heartbeat away from the presidency? Many Americans are asking that question, and Sen. John McCain answered it with a resounding “yes” on Sunday. “The facts are funny things,” McCain said in an interview with NBC’s Brian Williams. “She’s been in elected office longer than Sen. Obama. She’s been the chief executive of the state that provides 20 percent of America’s energy; she has balanced budgets; she has had executive experience as governor, as mayor, as a city council member and PTA. “So she was in elected office when Sen. Obama was still a local community organizer. He’s never had one day of executive experience.”
Palin: ‘I Do Not Support the Voucher System’-"On Sept. 9, 2006, the NEA-Alaska asked Palin if she supported the use of vouchers, tax credits, or other programs that provide public money for students to attend private or religious schools. “No,” Palin said. “It is unconstitutional and it is as simple as that.” She also said she would not support amending the Alaska Constitution. Palin told NEA-Alaska she wants to give parents as much choice and as many options as possible for educating their children, but “not public funding via vouchers.” Instead, she stressed the need for vocational education, especially in “resource rich” Alaska where “so many of our students are going to go on to vo-tech careers.” Sen. John McCain, however, does support school vouchers. He says if schools don’t improve, students should be able to change schools. “John McCain believes parents should be empowered with school choice to send their children to the school that can best educate them just as many members of Congress do with their own children....Sen. Barack Obama does not mention the word “vouchers” in his educational plan. In the 15 pages he devotes to his “pre-K to grade 12” education plan, he mentions the word “school choice” only once -- in a subhead called “School-family contracts.” ” his Web site says."-From a homeschooling mom!!! Quite interesting. Maybe she will change her mind after reviewing School Choice and British Comedy. Plus video commentary on the Presidential race. and the school systems in other states!!! She will probabily be more likely then Obama to have a change in mind in this issue anyways and see that maybe in Alaska the public school system is all right but when she sees some of the other states she may have a change in mind.
Palin Champions Freedom; Obama Raises ‘Fair Pay’ Issue-"On Sunday, Sen. Barack Obama -- in what the Associated Press described as a pitch to undecided women -- accused both Palin and Sen. John McCain of opposing equal pay for women....McCain has said that he is “all in favor of pay equity for women,” but he warned that the Fair Pay Restoration Act “opens us up to lawsuits for all kinds of problems." On Sunday, the McCain campaign said both McCain and Palin support equal pay for women even though they do not think the 180-day limit for filing complaints should be changed....McCain and Clinton had more female than male staffers making six-figure salaries, while Obama had more male than female staffers making six-figure salaries. The data were taken from the Report of the Secretary of the Senate, which covered the six-month period ending Sept. 30, 2007. (See earlier story: McCain, Clinton Pay Women Better than Obama)"
Palin Fought Against Listing Growing Polar Bear Population as Threatened-"Just weeks before Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R.) was tapped by Sen. John McCain (R.-Ariz.) to be his vice presidential running mate, her administration filed suit against the federal government challenging the Interior Department’s listing of the polar bear as “threatened."According to literature published by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), scientists estimated in the late 1950s through mid-1960s that there were anywhere from 5,000 to 19,000 polar bears. The latest survey from the IUCN, conducted in 2005, said: “The total number of polar bears worldwide is estimated to be 20,000-25,000.”...In Palin’s view, the real aim of the environmentalist group was to increase regulation aimed at limiting “greenhouse gases.”...In the same Fox interview, she pointed to “extreme environmentalists” whom she believes could hurt the U.S. economy if they succeeded in shutting down oil and gas development on the North Slope of Alaska.“And we remain committed to ensuring that our polar bears are conserved. And we`re going to continue to monitor the populations and their behaviors in relation to that changing sea ice condition,” she said. “But, you know, I will tell you, Neil, as you know, if extreme environmentalists have their way--and we do believe that what they would like to see, some of them, is oil and gas development shut down on Alaska`s North Slope--then the economic impact to our nation would really be catastrophic there,” she said.On August 4, Alaska filed suit to overturn Secretary Kempthorne’s decision to list the polar bear as threatened....Representatives of the Center for Biological Diversity, National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Greenpeace issued statements sharply criticizing Alaska’s lawsuit.“Alaska is on the front line of global warming impacts, and the polar bear is our canary in the coal mine,” said Malenie Duchin of Greenpeace. “The state's lawsuit isn’t about the science of global warming and polar bears – it is merely doing the bidding of oil companies that want to drill for oil in sensitive polar bear habitat, without any concern for how that oil will impact the climate when it's burned.”“The State of Alaska’s challenge to the protection of the polar bear is a lost cause based on discredited, industry-funded attacks on science,” said Kassie Siegal, the climate change program director of the Center for Biological Diversity.“They have taken their cues from industry every step of the way.” said Andrew Wetzler of the NRDC’s Endangered Species Project."
Other News of Values Voter Interest:
CNN's One-Sided Take on SD Abortion Bill, Avoids Obama's Votes -"During that report, Costello repeated how Obama claimed at the time that "the Illinois Born-Alive Infant Protection Act 'would essentially bar abortions, because the equal protection clause does not allow somebody to kill a child.' In other words, Obama says now it 'lacked the federal language clarifying the act would not be used to undermine Roe v. Wade.'" On Monday, the National Right-to-Life Committee released documentation that demonstrated that Obama had in fact voted against a Illinois state measure that had this "federal language" when it came before the health committee he chaired in 2003 (a detail that had gone largely unnoticed before). The story was picked up by Jill Stanek, a central figure to this issue, on her blog, and it spread like wildfire all over the conservative blogs. So far, only a few mainstream media outlets, such as The Politico, have picked up on the story. One wonders when CNN will get around to mentioning these details. College students get help combating liberals-"As colleges and universities around the U.S. open their doors for students, one conservative organization says the political climate on campus is changing. The Washington, DC-based Leadership Institute's Campus Leadership Program has been instrumental in the establishment of more than 1,034 conservative groups and newspapers on college campuses across the U.S. Ian Ivey is the group's communications director....Ivey says they are already hearing success stories. One such story involved the University of North Dakota (UND), where students were able to organize a successful walkout when the university invited Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers to speak. According to a Leadership Institute press release, the group is called Young Americans for Freedom, or YAF. Initially, the students wrote letters to the president of UND, asking that the university withdraw its support of Ayers' speaking event. However, the university did not comply, and the students began planning their protest....Leadership Institute president Morton Blackwell said, "In the 2007-2008 school year, there were many other leftist horror stories and conservative victories" on numerous campuses. He adds, "The disappointing part, however, is that most leftist abuses like these continue to go unreported."
California: “Court Rejects Attempt to Keep Out Bible Club at High School”-Pacific Justice Institute has issued a press release that begins: “A federal judge issued a preliminary injunction against the Placentia-Yorba Linda School District for its denial of equal access to a Christian club on one of its high school campuses. The Court found that Esperanza High School allowed students to form and join other clubs and on that basis should not have denied the application of the Bible Club.” The press release should be available soon on the PJI website."
