Breaking news: Obama attacks Gianna Jessen ad-"First lie in Obama ad: attributing the Gianna ad to John McCain, rather than BornAliveTruth.org. Second lie: "votes taken out of context"? A vote cannot be taken out of context. It's a vote. Third lie: "Obama has always supported medical care to protect infants." FALSE. Remember this, from Obama's 2002 Senate floor speech against Born Alive?....

I wonder if the reason why Obama made this out to be an ad by John McCain and not BornAliveTruth.org is because he doesn't want anybody going to BornAliveTruth.org to check the Fact Check section to find out the reasons that Obama himself gave for not passing this legislation. Above is a recording of one of his reasons. So who is being sleazy? Here is Obama's ad:

Deceptions in Obama's attack ad against Gianna ad-"Here they are again, first the ad BornAliveTruth.org began airing on September 16 in NM and OH...

Obama's ad was deceptive in at least 4 ways...

Obama ad Deception #1: Insinuating the BornAliveTruth.org Gianna ad was issued by the John McCain campaign, which it clearly was not. BornAliveTruth.org's web address was displayed at the top right of its ad throughout and included a disclaimer at the end in writing and audio stating, "BornAliveTruth.org is responsible for the content of this advertisement."

Obama ad Deception #2: Insinuating journalists were calling BornAliveTruth.org's Gianna ad "one of the sleaziest ads... ever seen" and "truly vile" when close scrutiny of the dates in the Obama ad showed they were written September 10, 2008, 6 days before the Gianna ad began airing:...

Obama ad Deception #3: Obama does not deny he voted 4x against the IL Born Alive Infants Protection Act, just that his votes were "taken out of context." Obama commonly uses this excuse. The problem is Obama was the sole senator to speak on the senate floor against Born Alive in both 2001 and 2002, so he provided plenty of fodder to understand the context of his votes. Links to all are here....

Obama ad Deception #4: The Obama ad pulled a quote ("None of those who voted against SB-1082 favored infanticide.") from a September 5, 2008, Chicago Tribune letter to the editor by former state Sen. Rick Winkel, who sponsored IL's Born Alive in 2003."

I am interjecting here into this blog by Jill Stanek. This is interesting!!! Notice in Obama's ad it pulls a quote from a Republican in favour of Obama's position but check out that quote in context!!!! Here is the quote:

"On March 12, 2003, I presented the neutrality amendment before the state Health and Human Services Committee chaired by then state Sen. Obama. All 10 committee members voted to add the amendment. Nevertheless, during the same hearing, the committee rejected the bill as amended on a vote of 4-6-0. Obama voted no.

I was stunned because the neutrality amendment addressed the concerns of opponents. It was the same neutrality language approved by U.S. Sens. Barbara Boxer, Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry in the federal bill.

None of those who voted against SB-1082 favored infanticide. Rather their zeal for pro-choice dogma was clearly the overriding force behind their negative votes rather than concern that my bill would protect babies who are born alive."-I wonder why Obama did not quote the rest of that quote!!!

Senator Obama's Record-"Obama actively opposed the legislation in the Illinois State Senate. In 2001, he voted no in committee, spoke against it on the Senate floor, and voted present on the floor. In 2002, he voted no in committee, spoke against it on the Senate floor, and voted no on the floor. Obama was the sole senator to ever speak against it on the Senate floor."-These links actually provide you pdf's from Illinois Governement web site. So this is not anything but what Obama actually argued.

Other Pro-Life News

Poll Shows Americans Don't Know Law on Whether Doctors Must Do Abortions-"The poll comes as a national battle is ensuing over the Bush administration's desire to enforce the law to protect physicians' rights. The Bush administration has proposed new regulations that would enforce laws preventing medical centers from forcing doctors to do abortions or refer for them. bortion advocates are leading a campaign against the proposal that would allow the current problems of medical centers flouting the law to continue. To find out what the public knows about current law, the Christian Medical Association, a pro-life doctors group, had the Polling Company commission a survey. The poll found just 38 percent of Americans knew that federal law says the doctor does not have to do the abortion or refer for it."

Democratic Strategists Urge Donations to Planned Parenthood to Attack McCain-"The Democratic Party platform promotes unlimited abortions paid for at taxpayer expense and Barack Obama's convention featured speeches from leading abortion advocates. Providing further evidence the party is linked to the abortion industry, leading Democratic strategists are telling large donors to give money to Planned Parenthood to bash John McCain....According to the liberal Talking Points memo web blog, several top party strategists held a private phone conference last week with about 50 top donors across the country capable of spending millions to attack McCain and Palin.
Stan Greenberg, Bill Clinton's 1992 pollster, painted a pretty bleak picture.
"The call was organized to let donors know that things are pretty serious and that if something is going to happen, it needs to happen fast," Democratic operative Mike Lux told the blog.
"The message was that it's pretty damn urgent," he said. "We said we think that dramatic things need to happen."
Instead of creating a new 527 group or political action committee to funnel the money through to advertising, the strategists told the donors to give to existing organizations.
At the top of the list, according to the blog? The nation's largest abortion business and top pro-Obama, pro-abortion group: Planned Parenthood."

Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood -- 'the LensCrafters of family planning'?-"According to Planned Parenthood's latest annual report, the organization received more than $1 billion from revenues -- nearly one-third of that figure came from "government grants and contracts." In light of that report, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota) became outraged when she learned of Planned Parenthood's new branding effort in her Minnesota district. She says the new strategy is a move away from helping poor women with family planning, and instead involves targeting latte-drinking, affluent women across America. But Bachmann claims Planned Parenthood has always been about big business.
When Planned Parenthood brings in over a billion dollars in revenues, pays no taxes, and sits at the end of the year fat and happy with $115 million in the bank..."As a matter of fact, in Houston, Planned Parenthood announced that they will be building a 75,000-square-foot building. How could that be possible -- a 75,000-square-foot building?" Bachmann questions.
She states that, as a former tax lawyer, it has become clear to her that Planned Parenthood no longer fits the mold of a 501(c)3 non-profit and should be paying taxes."

McCain for contrast

John McCain: Let's Build a Culture of Life on Abortion, Help Pregnant Women-"Well, let me just say this is all about courage and compassion. It's about changing the culture of America," he said. "I am pro-life and I support that position, and I know that Cindy does too."
McCain went further than he has before in talking about how the pro-life community helps women who are pregnant.
"We need to tell young American women who are faced with this terrible decision that we will help them have the courage to bring a baby into this world and we'll have the compassion and help them in every way that they can address it," he said...."And it will be if Roe V. Wade is overturned, go back to the states and the states will make the decisions about it," he said. "So that's the issue here as to how we treat the issue of human life in America and it's got to be done with courage and compassion. And that's both of our positions."..."So, look, this is an issue that we have to change the culture of America, those of us who respect the rights of the unborn," he said."

House Approves Biggest Adoption Incentives Bill Since 1997, Heads to Senate-"The measure is needed because abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood do little to encourage pregnant women to consider adoption when faced with an unplanned pregnancy.
The House-passed bill renews and expands adoption incentives and the Senate is expected to take up the measure and approve it within days....Planned Parenthood, which does 25 percent of the abortions nationwide, counsels fewer women about adoption now than ever before.
The number of Planned Parenthood adoption referrals is also miniscule and continues to drop, according to the new annual report it released in April. The previous annual report showed a scant 2,413 referrals and the abortion business made three less in the last fiscal year.
The adoption and prenatal numbers are also surprising given the increase in the total number of clients at Planned Parenthood. The pro-abortion group had 3.14 million customers in 2006-2007, which represented a 2.5 percent increase or almost 80,000 more customers than the year prior."

Supreme Court Justice Scalia

Supreme Court Justice Scalia: Nothing Qualifies Judge to Create Abortion Right-"Justice Antonin Scalia is one of the most outspoken jurists on the Supreme Court when it comes to talking about abortion. Scalia repeated the mantra on Monday that he's presented to college students and community forums about how the high court doesn't have the power to declare a right to abortion.
During a speech at Utah State University's Taggart Student Center, where 1,700 people came to hear the respected judge tell it like it is, Scalia criticized those jurists who engage in what he called "abstract moralizing."
In addition to faulty decisions like Roe v. Wade, Scalia said it results in a corrupt political process where citizens and politicians expect new judges to "rewrite" the U.S. Constitution and make policy decisions normally reserved for legislatures.
"These are social preferences that can only be handled in a political process," he said....

YouTube Yanks Another Pro-Life Video, Clip Exposes Barack Obama on Abortion-"The video included information about Obama's voting record on abortion-related bills, but YouTube blocked the video yesterday.
The video resembles a campaign commercial and deals with Obama's abortion record and the producer tells LifeNews.com he thinks YouTube specifically removed it because it was negative towards Obama.
It contains one graphic abortion photo and a diagram of the partial birth abortion procedure...."There are lots of pro-life videos containing graphic photos which are allowed to remain, but they don't mention Obama," Claydon said...Earlier this month, YouTube came under fire for blocking an investigative video from the pro-life group Live Action exposing the racist donations Planned Parenthood accepted.
In July, a short film by the pro- life Population Research Institute highlighting dishonest reporting from a pro-choice filmmaker was censored.
YouTube eventually responded to criticism and restored both videos. Also, YouTube took down a video from Citizens for a Pro-Life Society showing an abortion center that was investigated for illegally dumping medical waste.

Ireland and the EU

European court to hear Irish women’s challenge to abortion ban-"The European Court of Human Rights has agreed to hear a challenge by three Irish women to the Government’s ban on abortion on the basis that their rights were denied by being forced to terminate their pregnancies outside the State.
The women claim the restrictive nature of Irish law on abortion jeopardised their health and their wellbeing. Their complaint centres around four articles in the European Convention on Human Rights, including protection from “inhuman or degrading treatment” and freedom from discrimination.

Argentina

Judge in Argentina rules rape victim does not have to undergo abortion-"After weeks of investigation, a family court judge in the Argentinean province of Mendoza blocked a request by a woman that her 12 year-old daughter, who became pregnant through rape, be forced to undergo an abortion. The girl had expressed her desire to keep the baby and doctors testified an abortion would have carried serious medical and psychological risks."
