ADF: Lawsuit challenges $18 million in contracts awarded to Colo. abortionists-"Alliance Defense Fund attorneys and allied attorneys filed suit Wednesday, asking a Colorado court to cancel $18 million in illegal state contracts awarded over the last year to a Planned Parenthood affiliate and a Boulder abortion provider.
“Public officials cannot toss aside the democratic process and the rule of law,” said lead counsel and ADF-allied attorney Barry Arrington of the Arvada law firm Arrington & Associates, P.C. “The governor and other state officials are not at liberty to ignore the will of the people on this matter. Colorado voters amended the state constitution to prohibit tax dollar subsidies to abortion providers.”
The lawsuit, filed on behalf of Colorado taxpayer Mark Hotaling, contends that five contracts which Gov. Bill Ritter and the executive director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Jim Martin, awarded to two abortion providers unconstitutionally use taxpayer funds to subsidize abortion.
In 1984, Colorado voters approved the Abortion Funding Prohibition Amendment to the Colorado Constitution, which prohibits the direct or indirect use of public funds to pay for abortion. In 2001, the Health Department, under then-Executive Director Jane Norton, conducted an audit of the operations of Rocky Mountain Planned Parenthood and its affiliate Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains Services Corporation. The department ended funding for Planned Parenthood after finding that it indirectly subsidized the abortion operations of its subsidiary....The complaint filed with the District Court for the City and County of Denver, Colorado, in Hotaling v. Ritter is available at www.telladf.org/UserDocs/HotalingComplaint.pdf."

Colorado Amendment 48 for Personhood on Abortion Trails Big in New State Poll-" A new poll of Colorado voters finds Amendment 48, the measure to define unborn children as persons from the moment of conception under state law, trailing by a large margin. A new Rocky Mountain News/CBS4 survey finds the measure, which could prohibit abortions, losing 68 to 27 percent.
Of the 68 percent of Colorado voters who say they oppose the measure, a strong 61 percent say they will "definitely" oppose the amendment.
Pollster Lori Weigel told the newspaper that the polling data makes it appear there is little hope for Amendment 48 to win next week.
"Once a ballot measure falls under 50 percent support, it is very difficult to turn around that dynamic," Weigel said. "For this ballot measure, this is not a hole to dig yourself out of, it's a chasm."
Kristi Burton, the young woman who spearheaded the efforts to get the personhood measure on the ballot -- by turning in a large group of 130,000 petitions to do so -- told the News she thinks the poll isn't a reflection of what will happen on Election Day.
"I've heard different information from different people involved in past efforts," she said. "Sometimes, polls don't accurately represent what the numbers will be on Election Day. That's when we'll learn what the truth really is."

I’m not Voting for a Man, I’m Voting for Generations of Children and their Right to Live-"The Randy Alcorn Blog carries this post that begins: “Yesterday I received this question in an e-mail from Faith, a godly young woman I respect very much: As a Christian, should we vote for who we think should lead our country solely based on their stance on abortion? I have been thinking about this question and I am having a hard time putting my thoughts into words.”
2.9M Hispanic Voters get Anti-Obama Email from Hispanic Bishop (English Version)-"Randall Terry says: "Bishop Gracida's radio ad is causing a massive uproar and major defection from Obama in the Catholic Community. This may be the first time in American history that an election is determined by Hispanics and a Catholic Bishop."
The letter was sent in Spanish. The following text and audio clip From Catholic Bishop Rene H. Gracida was sent this morning (Friday, October 31) to 2.9 Million Hispanic Voters via email.
Bishop Gracida's ad is running on radio and TV in swing states. Here is the English Translation of the Spanish text that was sent to 2.9 million Hispanic voters.
Dear Friends:
We only have days left before a critical election to elect a new president. In this moment, like no other moment in history, Hispanic votes will decide the future of the United States. That means that we have a great weight of responsibility.
During this election, there are many Catholics who have told the Catholic people that it is ok to vote for Obama for president.
That is simply not true. Unfortunately, it is a lie.
Please, read the words of a beloved Hispanic bishop, Bishop Rene H. Gracida, who has faithfully served the Hispanic Catholics of Florida and Texas.
"I am Bishop Rene A. Gracida, reminding all Catholics that they need to vote in these elections with an informed conscience.
A Catholic cannot say that he/she voted in this election in good conscience if he/she votes for a candidate in favor of abortion.
Barak Hussein Obama is a candidate in favor of abortion."
This magnificent message of our dear Bishop is available as a radio ad that can be aired on Hispanic radio stations. Click here to listen to this ad. (Haga clic aquí para escuchar este anuncio.) If you are interested in spreading this message to other Hispanic voters and if you want to give us a donation so that other Catholics can listen to Bishop Gracida, please give what you can as soon as possible. Click here to contribute to our cause. (Haga clic aquí para contribuir a nuestra causa.)
When we enter the voting booth, we must not forget that Obama supports the killing of unborn babies even until the day they are to be born. This, in the eyes of God, is murder.
We must not help someone who has the intention of killing babies - especially Hispanic babies. It is a fact that Obama has used our tax dollars to place abortion clinics in Hispanic neighborhoods.
Remember that our loyalty to our Lord Jesus Christ is much more important than any political party.
It is your decision for whom you want to vote. There are many candidates that are against the culture of death, who support life and who love the United States and our people, but as Bishop Gracida said - We cannot vote for Obama with a clear conscience.
Again we ask you to give a gift if you can so that more people can listen to Bishop Gracida’s ad, and we also ask for your prayers for this cause in defense of life.
And we ask you to send this message to your friends and your family.
As Catholics, we understand that we owe everything to our God and our Mother, the Virgin of Guadalupe.
May God bless you and whatever happens, remember the words of Bishop Gracida when you enter the voting booth this Tuesday.
Sincerely,
Norma Nelly Vielma

Catholic pro-lifers: Get ready to rumble and sue this weekend-"Deal Hudson of Inside Catholic reported yesterday that the pro-abortion group Catholics United has sent out an email blast calling on its readers to stop pro-lifers from distributing voter guides before and after Mass this weekend as well as leafletting cars. CU is instead encouraging them to distribute liberal voter guides.
Fr. Frank Pavone of Priests for Life shot a response letter to CU, warning that pro-lifers are prepared to sue, because such circumvention would be a constitutional violation."-Check out the two emails!!!
Back to Colorado
I had a discussion in Taos with a gentlemen who was lead to believe as he gave an example that defining a person from conception would lead to prosecutions of those who had miscarriages and so he was not going to vote that a person is a person from conception forward even though he was pro-life. This article should do much to show that this is only a scare tactic from the opponents of the right for life. I would ask that individual to vote what was is in your conscience and what you know an unborn child to be and let the rest to God!!! Don't be persuaded by the Dr's and Organizations that are against such a definition of a person all the way up to when they are even being partially aborted and in some cases survive an abortion!!! See below article....
Why the States Did Not Prosecute Women for Abortion Before Roe v. Wade-"The political claim—that women were or will be prosecuted or jailed under abortion laws—has been made so frequently by Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and NOW over the past 40 years that it has become an urban legend. It shows the astonishing power of contemporary media to make a complete falsehood into a truism....There are “only two cases in which a woman was charged in any State with participating in her own abortion”: from Pennsylvania in 19111 and from Texas in 1922.2 There is no documented case since 1922 in which a woman has been charged in an abortion in the United States. Based on this record—spanning 50 states over the century before Roe v. Wade—it is even more certain that the political claim that any woman might be questioned or prosecuted for a spontaneous miscarriage has no record in history and will certainly not be the policy of any state in the future."

New Jersey
New Jersey Quality Inn, Clarion Hotels Give Women Discounts for Abortions-"Women heading to New Jersey for abortions are getting discounts at two brand name hotels and pro-life advocates are working to expose the practice. An abortion business in Cherry Hill that does abortions up to six months into pregnancy worked out the discounts with two local hotels. New Jersey Right to Life indicates that participants in the local 40 Days for Life prayer campaign have learned that the Cherry Hill Women's Center made the arrangements. The Clarion Hotel in Cherry Hill offers a reduced rate of $59 for a room originally priced at $109 to women staying there from out of town to get an abortion. Women need only show a receipt from the abortion business saying an overnight stay is necessary. In addition, the Quality Inn in Maple Shade offers a discounted rate of $74.95 for a room originally priced at $99.99 and a free breakfast of eggs and pancakes for women who present a stamped pamphlet from the abortion center."
New Jersey Hotels Stop Giving Discounts to Abortion Business Customers-"After a LifeNews.com story exposing the practice, two New Jersey hotels have reportedly stopped giving discounts to women who patronize a local abortion business. An abortion center in Cherry Hill that does abortions up to six months into pregnancy worked out the discounts with two local hotels.
New Jersey Right to Life brought the practice to light and indicated that local pro-life advocates learned that the Cherry Hill Women's Center made the arrangements."
Mexico
Sonora becomes second Mexican state to pass law protecting unborn-"CNA reports: “By a vote of 27-5, the Sonora State Congress in Mexico amended the state’s constitution and enshrined protection of human life from conception to natural death, closing the door to legal efforts to expand abortion . . . "
Nicaragua
Nicaragua Pressured on Abortion by the UN Human Rights Committee-"In Geneva last week Nicaragua came under fire for its laws protecting the unborn. Members of the Human Rights Committee (HRC) – the treaty body that monitors implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) – repeatedly grilled the Central American nation for outlawing abortion as Nicaragua presented its third periodic report detailing progress in implementing the treaty.
Nicaragua banned all abortion in 2006 and rejected a “therapeutic” abortion amendment last year. In advance of the hearing, the HRC sent Nicaragua questions concerning its abortion law and rates of maternal mortality, which Nicaragua addressed in its report. “Experts” on the Committee also had the opportunity to pose questions.
Among the queries was how, if Nicaragua were a “secular state,” a ban on abortion could be reconciled with secularity. The delegation responded by pointing out that though the state is secular, the “social reality” is that 90 per cent of the country’s 5.6 million people profess Christianity, implying that the laws reflected the value choices of a majority of Nicaraguans. The delegates added that if there came a time when a majority desired to change the country’s abortion laws, they could do so via the political process."
Phillipines
International Planned Parenthood and UNFPA Push “Two Child Policy” in Philippines-"In their attempt to globalize their anti-life agenda, International Planned Parenthood, along with other international pro-abortion groups like the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), has fixed its sights on the Philippines. The Filipino legislature is contemplating a comprehensive reproductive health bill that, among other things, threatens to legalize abortion in the predominantly Catholic Asian nation.
So far, UNFPA has doled out $26 million to advance its agenda in the Philippines through the Philippine Legislators’ Committee on Population and Development (PLCPD).
“[The] Act Providing for a National Policy on Reproductive Health, Responsible Parenthood and Population Development and for Other Purposes,” hit the floor of the Philippine Congress for debate in mid-September.
The bill mandates “ideal family size,” which amounts to laying groundwork for a “two-child policy” not unlike China’s infamous “one-child” counterpart. It also provides for up to six months imprisonment and high fines for noncompliance.
Filipino Family Fund (FFF) President Eileen Macapanas Cosby finds the UNFPA-driven bill unsalvageable and believes pro-life Filipinos (and pro-life Americans in solidarity) should fight to kill the bill outright."
Scotland
Scotland to get first private abortion clinic-"The Scotsman reports:
SCOTLAND is to get its first private clinic specialising in “late-term” abortions because the NHS cannot cope with the hundreds of women requesting the controversial procedure . . .
Most cases involved women who wanted a termination for so-called social reasons where they did not want to give birth . . .
The revelation, which comes in the wake of a failed bid by MPs to relax Britain’s abortion laws, has sparked furious opposition from the Catholic Church and pro-life groups . . ."
