Police eventually escorted the Christians out of the neighborhood.
"They made a wall between us and the crowd until the crowd started trying to get through the police officers to us and that's when they told our leader 'We fear that you guys are in danger out here -- we need to get you out of here,'" said Missy Huff, another House of Prayer member.."-Excellent quick 2 minute video report from CBNnews.com.
Christian Prayer Group Sexually and Physically Assaulted by Homosexual Mob-"The Christians, a group of Evangelical Protestants who regularly go to the predominantly homosexual Castro District to sing songs and pray with passers-by, say they were holding hands and singing "Amazing Grace" when a angry mob began to shove and kick them, steal their belongings, pour hot coffee on their faces, and sexually assault them.... Although the group did no preaching, the mere presence of Christians praying in the Castro District was enough to provoke a frenzy of violence....someone reached in and took her Bible and she went and said 'I'm sorry that's mine, can I have it back please?' and he hit on her head with the Bible, pushed her onto the ground and began kicking her...we know who you are, we're going to kill you...they were touching and grabbing me, and trying to shove things in my butt, and even trying to take off my pants - basically trying to molest me. I used one hand to hold my pants up, while I used the other arm to hold one of the girls. The guys huddled around all the girls, and protected them....After police arrived in riot gear, the mob reportedly became even more agitated, and began to violently lunge at the prayer group, seeking to go between the officers, who had formed a protective line. That was when the videotaped participant said she thought she was going to die....Peter LaBarbera, President of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH), told LifeSiteNews that America is beginning to see the real face of the homosexual movement in the aftermath of the Proposition 8 victory in California...."If you do a little logic test and flip it around and if you had a video of a bunch of Christians or let's just say conservatives, sexually molesting and chasing some gays out of a city, you'd better believe there would be a national outcry," he added."
Proposition 8 hostility 'got out of hand,' Assembly speaker says-"Assembly Speaker Karen Bass said today she is "appalled" at the hostility that has been directed at African-Americans since the passage of Proposition 8.
According to exit polls, 70 percent of black voters supported the gay marriage ban measure, which has caused friction between gays and blacks.
But during a meeting with The Bee's Capitol bureau, Bass said that lost in the post-mortems over Proposition 8 is that black support for the measure was "a generational issue" that divided younger and older African-Americans.
The Los Angeles Democrat, who is California's highest-ranking African-American elected official, said she was "really appalled at how quickly (the issue) was racialized, and it wasn't even analyzed."
"I have friends in Los Angeles, who are African-Americans in the (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community, and they went out to protest the vote and had racial epithets hurled at them," Bass said. "A couple of them were fearful and they left because they were threatened."
Bass, who opposed Proposition 8, said she was "appalled at how quickly some members of the LBGT leadership went there, as opposed to saying, 'what did we or didn't we do in the campaign?'"-See video of her making these comments!!!
Proponents of Proposition 8 Gratified With Supreme Court Rulings, Express Confidence that Proposition 8 Will Be Upheld-"The Court’s order accepting the cases, as was requests by the proponents of Proposition 8, will provide a ruling on Prop 8’s validity in a matter of months, rather than potentially years of protracted litigation....Perhaps the most significant part of the Supreme Court’s order is to deny the requests of the plaintiffs in the three cases to stay the implementation of Proposition 8. This means that, once the vote is certified, Proposition 8 will take effect as of midnight, November 5th. The Constitution of California has been amended to provide that only marriage between a man and a woman will be valid or recognized in California....“Voters will not have to solely depend on Attorney General Jerry Brown to defend the measure. Since the attorney general was an active opponent of Proposition 8, we did not want the fate of the measure to rest in his defense of it.”
No stay on Proposition 8, marriage defenders allowed into lawsuit -"A court petition filed by groups dissatisfied with the decision of California voters to protect marriage asked for an immediate stay of Proposition 8, which voters approved Nov. 4 (www.telladf.org/news/story.aspx?cid=4740). Wednesday, the court denied the request, allowed Proposition 8 official proponents to intervene as defendants in the case, and set a deadline of Dec. 19 for the submission of briefs.
Multiple lawsuits filed with the high court–including Strauss v. Horton, Tyler v. State of California, and City of San Francisco v. Horton–claim that Proposition 8 illegally revised the constitution instead of amending it to restore the definition of marriage used throughout the history of the state.
Proposition 8 proponents asked the court to take the cases. The court granted all of the proponents’ requests, including taking the cases, denying the stay, and allowing intervention in the case to fully defend the vote of the California people. A copy of the court’s order is available at www.telladf.org/UserDocs/HortonOrder.pdf.
ADF attorneys were involved in defending Proposition 8 from attack prior to the election and also defended California’s Defense of Marriage Act, Proposition 22, before it was struck down by the California Supreme Court in May."
Leaders of the Common Cause Partnership, a group representing more than 100,000 church members, say they will unveil a new church constitution December 3 at Wheaton Evangelical Free Church in Wheaton, Illinois.
Bishop Robert Duncan, who was ousted by the Episcopal church last month, has been elected to lead the new group."
While many talk of schism in the Anglican Church, when asked if the words global reformation were appropriate to describe recent developments in the Communion, Packer hoped that's what this season is about."
