Marriage Advocates: 'We Will Not Be Silenced'-""Amidst all this lawlessness, harassment, trampling of civil rights and now domestic terrorism, one thing stands out: the deafening silence of our elected officials," said Frank Schubert, co-manager of "Yes on 8."
"Not a single elected leader has spoken out against what is happening. Where is Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger while churches are being attacked? And where is Senator Dianne Feinstein while people are losing their jobs and grandmothers are being bullied by an angry mob?"
Schubert spoke at a press conference Friday, 10 days after Proposition 8 received 52.5 percent of the vote. On Saturday, anti-marriage protests were planned in every state.
Consider some of the recent outrage:
• In Sacramento, a musical theater director was forced to resign after he was blacklisted for contributing $1,000 to the initiative.• A Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles has been boycotted after a relative of the owner donated to the coalition.• Numerous churches have had their property defaced.• An unknown white powder was mailed to several Mormon temples and the national headquarters of the Knights of Columbus.
"For 14 months, we have been called bigots and hatemongers, and we have not retaliated against these unprecedented attacks," said Jim Garlow, a pastor in San Diego. "But we will not be silenced."

Major Media Ignore Homosexual Hatefest in Christian Church-"Gay activists disrupting a worship service by shouting “Jesus is a Homo!” apparently are not newsworthy....Since Californians passed Proposition 8, which effectively banned same-sex marriage in the Golden State, gay protesters across the country have received heavy, favorable coverage from national news outlets. However, major networks such as ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and CNN posted no original stories about the offensive display in Michigan last Sunday. The New York Times, USA Today, Los Angeles Times and Washington Post ignored the incident. Only local news outlets like NBC Affiliate NBC25 in Michigan and conservative news outlets, such as World Net Daily, covered the story.
According to its Myspace page, Bash Back! identifies itself as a pro-homosexual, pro-anarchy group dedicated to “eradicating heternormativity.”

Elderly Prop. 8 supporter roughed up, filing charges-"An elderly California woman will file charges against homosexuals who attacked her during a protest against the passage of Proposition 8.

Last Friday evening, homosexual activists and their supporters gathered at the Palm Springs City Hall, protesting voter approved Prop. 8, which defines marriage as between a man and a woman. Phyllis Burgess went to the rally, and carried a Styrofoam cross through the crowd. As ABC affiliate KESQ-TV carried that rally live, homosexuals surrounded the 69-year-old woman, began pushing her, reportedly spit on her, and grabbed the cross from her arms and threw it on the ground. (See video report) Burgess remained calm throughout the melee. "I was really so overflowing with peacefulness in my heart that I just couldn't see this," she says. "It wasn't in my mind, it really wasn't."

Initially, Burgess said she did not want to file charges, but changed her mind after authorities encouraged her to do so (see related video). She says she went to the rally "just to get my remarks across at my city hall, where I have lived for 30 years." She adds: "If it takes endangerment, should that stop me? I'm a senior -- we respect elder abuse in this city." Police are reviewing video in hopes of identifying suspects. Charges would be assault and vandalism, both misdemeanors.

Randy Thomasson of the Campaign for Children and Families says the attack on Burgess is one of many incidents in California directed at supporters of traditional marriage. He notes that, among the rage and shouting displayed at the rally, protestors also used the "n-word" against black people.

Thomasson equates their behavior with a toddler's temper tantrum, saying that homosexuals are demonstrating their deep intolerance for not only people who believe real marriage exists between a man and a woman, but also for people of faith and color. "America needs to see the true face of the homosexual activists who are intolerant against people of faith and anyone who believes in real marriage between a man and a woman," he contends. According to Thomasson, the peaceful marches of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., are drastically different than the recent violent displays, mainly because King was seeking natural civil rights and homosexuals are demanding public endorsement of their "unnatural sexual behavior."-Check out poll results from OneNewsNow.com that asked this question of many social conservatives: If a group of Christians had reacted in this fashion to opponents of traditional marriage, would the incident be reported differently by the media? Marriage Advocates Respond to Harassment, Intimidation-"Ten days after a majority of California voters approved a constitutional amendment to define marriage as between one man and one woman, the "tolerance" is out in full force.
Those who supported Proposition 8 have been blacklisted, harassed and intimidated. Churches have been defaced. Donors and volunteers for the Yes on 8 campaign have been fired or forced to resign — just because they exercised their constitutional right to participate in the political process. And African-Americans have been accused of abandoning civil rights.
"This is the kind of thing we need to bring to the attention of the general population because by no means is the mantra of the gay agenda tolerance; by every definition (it's) intolerance and hate-filled bigotry," said Ron Prentice, chairman of Yes on 8 and executive director of the California Family Council.
"We were attempting to be respectful, but the opposition is actually increasing their rallies, their marches, their vandalism — to the point of sending envelopes with white powder to the Mormon Temple and to other major religious headquarters," he told Family News in Focus before a Yes on 8 news conference. "So we’ve decided we need to come out assertively against all of this activity and respond."

Mormon Church persecuted over Proposition 8 support-"Nicholas Riccardi reports in the LA Times:
Protesters have massed outside Mormon temples nationwide. For every donation to a fund to overturn Proposition 8, a postcard is sent to the president of the Mormon Church. Supporters of gay marriage have proposed a boycott of Utah businesses, and someone burned a Book of Mormon outside a temple near Denver."

Calif. homosexuals try to 'gut democratic process'-"Attorneys are getting set to square off before the California Supreme Court to protect traditional marriage.
Voters decided earlier this month to overturn the state high court's legalization of homosexual "marriage," but activists have filed suit to overturn the outcome. Glen Lavy, an attorney with the Alliance Defense Fund, comments on the situation. "We see the opponents of marriage and democracy trying to bypass the political process and use the courts to overturn the will of the people," he contends. "This lawsuit is nothing but a brazen attempt to gut the democratic process. It's really a reprehensible lawsuit."

Six separate legal challenges now pending against Prop. 8-"“A women’s rights group Monday filed the latest legal challenge to the measure, arguing that allowing such a change to the California Constitution could lead to stripping women and minorities of legal rights. A coalition of religious groups, led by the California Council of Churches, also sued separately Monday to block the law. All six challenges argue that Proposition 8 was an improper method of changing the California Constitution and flouted the Supreme Court’s ruling last year striking down the state’s prior ban on gay marriage.”

Breakaway Episcopal diocese elects familiar leader-"Bishop Robert Duncan, ousted by the Episcopal Church last month, has been elected to lead a breakaway diocese of conservative churches.

Duncan will be the spiritual leader of more than 50 Pittsburgh-area parishes, which split from the national church to align with an overseas group of Anglican churches that shares its conservative views on traditional Bible teachings. Another 20 area parishes chose to remain in the Episcopal Church, the U.S. province of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Both groups still call themselves the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh, and they will share the city's historic cathedral, despite pending litigation over other property. Two other theologically conservative dioceses have broken away from the liberal Episcopal Church in a dispute over the Bible, homosexual relationships, and other issues. The Diocese of Fort Worth, Texas, will vote this weekend on whether to follow suit."

Fort Worth Episcopals vote to leave liberal denomination-"The theologically conservative Diocese of Fort Worth voted Saturday to split from the liberal-leaning Episcopal Church, the fourth traditional diocese to do so in a long-running debate over the Bible, homosexual relationships and other issues.

About 80 percent of clergy and parishioners in the Texas diocese supported the break in a series of votes at a diocesan convention....The other seceding dioceses are Pittsburgh; Quincy, Ill.; and San Joaquin, based in Fresno, Calif...All four withdrawing dioceses are aligning with the like-minded Anglican Province of the Southern Cone, based in Argentina, to try to keep their place in the world Anglican Communion. The vote is the latest fallout from the 2003 consecration of the first openly gay Episcopal bishop, V. Gene Robinson of New Hampshire. The 77-million-member Anglican fellowship, which includes the U.S. Episcopal Church, has roots in the missionary work of the Church of England. Most overseas Anglicans hold traditional views of the Bible and Robinson's consecration has moved the global communion toward the brink of schism. As Sweden moves closer to a same-sex marriage law, Left Party leader Lars Ohly wants to include a provision to force pastors to wed gay couples. [...]
The current measure allows pastors or other officiates to refuse to perform wedding ceremonies for gay couples if they so choose."
