Update on Fireproof and Expelled and Come What May

Good News: Fireproof Passes $20 Million Mark-"Fireproof, which cost less than $1 million to make, passed the $20 million mark at the box office this weekend. Titanic, the highest-grossing movie of all time, cost $200 million to make and brought in a threefold return.
The pro-marriage Fireproof is the third feature film from Sherwood Pictures, the moviemaking ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Ga.
"We don't do this so that people will pat us on the back," Sherwood Senior Pastor Michael Catt said. "We do it for God's glory."
The Love Dare, a book featured in the movie, hit No. 1 on the New York Times paperback advice best-seller list, and is No. 10 among all books on Amazon.com.

Good News: Expelled Available on DVD Today-"Ben Stein's documentary, Expelled, which chronicles the censorship of teachers, professors and students who question the theory of Darwinian evolution, is available on DVD today. The film earned more than $7 million in theaters.
Stein said he hopes the DVD will continue to open up the debate of freedom of speech and freedom of education in the U.S.
“Scientists are supposed to be allowed to follow the evidence wherever it may lead, no matter what the implications are," he said in a statement. "Freedom of inquiry has been greatly compromised, and this is not only anti-science, it’s anti-American.”

Check out this online movie.-"Watch online. This movie is produced in association with Patrick Henry College!!! "Advent Film Group (AFG) produced the movie in association with Patrick Henry College, a true-to-life powerhouse in collegiate debate and moot court competition. PHC, founded eight years ago, enrolling only 300 students, has won the Moot Court National Championship twice and has beaten Oxford in England and again in Richmond, VA. The movie's legal argument is solid." Also, in this blog are reports of two other very successful christian law schools.

Home schoolers take on Roe v Wade-"A new movie is out, combining the talents of home schoolers and a Christian production company, depicting a legal challenge to Roe v. Wade.

The movie, called Come What May (produced by Advent Film Group), features the debate team from Patrick Henry College that takes part in the National Moot Court Championship. The debate team uses arguments that many say could one day be used to overturn Roe v. Wade.A new movie is out, combining the talents of home schoolers and a Christian production company, depicting a legal challenge to Roe v. Wade."

From an email update from www.protectmarriage.com-"Gay activists held a fundraiser on Tuesday night at billionaire liberal Ron Burkle’s mansion in Beverly Hills where they raised an astonishing $3.9 million. Even as guests were being entertained by Barbra Streisand, Melissa Etheridge and Mary J. Blige, No on 8 operatives were busy launching a sneak attack on the institution of marriage. They began dumping $3 million into television commercials this week alone. That is on top of the nearly $4 million in air time they already had purchased for this week, meaning they are spending an unbelievable $7 million on air time this week alone!"

McCain/Palin vs Obama/Biden/George Lucas/Ellen DeGeneres/Melissa Ethridge/Mary Blige/Hollywood on same sex marriage.-"A city ordinance prohibits placing political signs on private property unless the property owner gets a permit and pays a $250 deposit. Under the ordinance, the city threatened homeowners with fines of $25 a day if they did not remove their pro-Proposition 8 signs. The city also threatened Calvary Chapel Chino Hills with a $250 fine if they did not stop distributing the signs. ADF attorneys sent a letter to Mayor Curt Hagman Oct. 15 regarding the unconstitutionality of the ordinance (www.telladf.org/UserDocs/ChinoHillsLetter.pdf). The city attorney responded Friday with assurances that the sign law would not be enforced against the homeowners or the church (www.telladf.org/UserDocs/ChinoHillsResponse.pdf)"

Who is doing the smearing over the issue of Same Sex Marriage in Cali?-First on this blog, "A poll Big Media doesn't want you to know about. Notice this has been a consistent complaint for awhile but just is more plain this year then ever before....Pew noted how "in recent presidential campaigns, voters repeatedly have said they thought journalists favored the Democratic candidate over the Republican," but "this year's margin is particularly wide." and "A study by Nielsen Media Research shows that the Big Three network news programs experienced a sharp drop in viewers last week during the height of the presidential campaign."

Analyzing Media Coverage of the Election-"Sarah Palin told CNN the media would never let her get away with such comments. "Why does Joe Biden get a pass on such a thing? Can you imagine if I would've said such a thing?" she asked. "We would be pounded...If I would've said that, you guys would've clobbered me." Dan Rather agrees. The former CBS anchor man, who has been accused of having a liberal bias, told MSNBC, "if Sarah Palin had said this, the newspapers would have jumped all over it and so would have the major television outlets." Dr. Charles Dunn of Regent University's School of Government spoke with CBN News about media coverage of the election. Click play for his comments."-Very interesting video interview!!!

But concerning the smearing: "These damning public records show that it is in fact the organizations leading and financing the No on 8 campaign who are lying to California voters"..."In the greatest irony, of course, just two days after the No on 8 “Lies” television commercial began airing, a first grade public school class in San Francisco was taken on a field trip to a lesbian wedding at City Hall, officiated by Mayor Gavin Newsom. School officials said they wished to provide their five and six year old students a “teachable moment"

Pro-Life News

Jill Stanek and Hannity report on what Big Media won't. The biggest smear this election is the lack of reporting smear on the unborn by Big Media!!-Many reports "From JillStanek.com (Jill Stanek the christian nurse who testified before Obama pleading for protection of infants born alive after a failed abortion.)" and also a great 10 or so minute segment on Obama from Hannity concerning his relationship with pro-abortion groups!!!

From JillStanek.com and BornAliveTruth.org-More from Jill Stanek "Check out what Obama actually said concerning issues that related to this bill to get a flavor of Obama's say so at the time in which this protection for born alive infants was introduced at spoke against the bill on page 85 in 2001 then again on page 31 at spoke against the bill (these are the actual government documents and recordings of what was said at this time in Illinois)."

Obama's Abortion Extremism-"Sen. Barack Obama's views on life issues ranging from abortion to embryonic stem cell research mark him as not merely a pro-choice politician, but rather as the most extreme pro-abortion candidate to have ever run on a major party ticket.Barack Obama is the most extreme pro-abortion candidate ever to seek the office of President of the United States. He is the most extreme pro-abortion member of the United States Senate. Indeed, he is the most extreme pro-abortion legislator ever to serve in either house of the United States Congress. Yet there are Catholics and Evangelicals-even self-identified pro-life Catholics and Evangelicals - who aggressively promote Obama's candidacy and even declare him the preferred candidate from the pro-life point of view. What is going on here?..."-A must view article!!!! If you know of anyone compromising with Obama on the issue of abortion this may be a good article to refer to along with this one Little Murders-"Can a Catholic Support Him? Asking the Big Question about Barack Obama"-Another good article for those concerned about this issue!!!"

What would Martin Luther King say about Pastor Wright from a former producer of CBS News!!!-New York Times and Washington Post coverage of Iraq down...Big Media Double Standard in reporting sex scandals...Contrast two conventions and Pastor Wright speeches..."Denver was host to another historic convention back in 1956. That year, the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered a sermon at the National Baptist Convention there which, according to eyewitness accounts, gripped the crowd of thousands. The sermon was called "Paul's Letter to American Christians,..."So I would urge each of you to plead patiently with your brothers, and tell them this isn't the way. With understanding goodwill, you are obligated to seek to change their attitudes....Always be sure that you struggle with Christian methods and Christian weapons. Never succumb to the temptation of becoming bitter....Martin Luther King stood up for blacks, fought against racism and segregation, and ultimately gave his life for those causes. He also preached the gospel of Jesus Christ, not a gospel of victimhood and hatred. I cannot say what he might think of Jeremiah Wright. But there is no denying what he preached. This is from one of King's sermons called "Rediscovering Lost Values"

But First McCain and Fred Thompson on "Big Government"

"The reason why Joe won is because he’s the only person to get a real answer out of Senator Obama about his plans for our country. I think you all know very well that Joe didn’t ask for Senator Obama to come to his house. Joe certainly didn’t ask to be famous. He certainly didn’t ask for the political attacks on him from the Obama campaign. Joe, if you’re watching, I’m sorry you’re being put through this. No American should be attacked for asking questions of a presidential candidate. No one. We learned more about Senator Obama’s plans from Joe’s question than we’ve learned in months of speeches by Senator Obama. Joe has now reminded us all that we didn’t become the greatest nation on Earth by giving our money to the government to “spread the wealth around”. In this country, we believe in spreading opportunity for those who need jobs and those who create them."-I am not in complete agreement here. If America is great it is only as great as it's values and respect for God's laws. However, for a decent rebuttal to "Big Government" philosophy of Obama and for contrast sake on this issue I post it.

New York Times and Washington Post coverage of Iraq down

With Success of Surge, NY Times’ Iraq War Coverage Drops to All-Time Low-"As the U.S. troop surge in Iraq has succeeded, leading to a dramatic decline in the number of U.S. casualties in that country, The New York Times’s coverage of the Iraq war also has declined, falling to an all-time low in the last two months, according to a CNSNews.com analysis of stories retrieved on the Nexis database....This year, the Times ran only 80 stories in August and 86 in September that cited “Iraq” at least five times. That is a drop of more than 60 percent from August and September of 2004. (See chart)..This year, the Post ran 65 stories in August and 105 in September that cited “Iraq” at least five times. That was a drop of more than 60 percent from August and September of 2004 and more than 30 percent from August and September of 2006 (See chart)..In September 2008, however, the Times ran only one story that used the word “Iraq” in the headline. Big Media Double Standard in reporting sex scandals

Mahoney and the Media: A Double Standard?-"With the scandal of Florida Congressman Tim Mahoney still unfolding yet getting very little news coverage, many are questioning if the media can be trusted when it comes to controversial and politically charged stories.

Now to Martin Luther King

What would MLK say?-"The candidacy of Barack Obama cast a spotlight on his pastor and mentor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Seeing and hearing some of what Rev. Wright preached from his pulpit was a revelation of sorts to me. Call me naïve, but I was unaware of the undercurrent of anti-white sentiment that ran through churches like Trinity, and found voice in ministers like Wright.

Throughout history, much evil has been perpetrated in the name of Christianity. And there is no denying the racism and hatred that black people have suffered at the hands of whites in the past and in my lifetime. Nonetheless I was shocked that in 21st-century America people who called themselves Christians could act in such a way and expect to get away with it. White racists like David Duke are duly villified by the media. Black racists – well, there aren't any I guess. In Denver this year, we watched as a black man accepted the Democratic Party's nomination for the presidency. And while I don't agree with Senator Obama's political views or his stand on virtually every social issue, it was a moment of historic significance. It was a moment that should have made all Americans – black and white – proud.

Denver was host to another historic convention back in 1956. That year, the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered a sermon at the National Baptist Convention there which, according to eyewitness accounts, gripped the crowd of thousands. The sermon was called "Paul's Letter to American Christians," and King would deliver it again a few months later from his pulpit at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church nine days before the Supreme Court declared Alabama bus segregation unconstitutional. In this sermon, King reads an imaginary letter from the Apostle Paul written to Christians in America. Here is a portion of it:

"There is another thing that disturbs me to no end about the American church. You have a white church and you have a Negro church. You have allowed segregation to creep into the doors of the church. How can such a division exist in the true Body of Christ? You must face the tragic fact that when you stand at eleven o'clock on Sunday morning to sing 'All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name' and 'Dear Lord and Father of All Mankind,' you stand in the most segregated hour of Christian America. They tell me that there is more integration in the entertaining world and other secular agencies than there is in the Christian church. How appalling that is."
He goes on:
"So I would urge each of you to plead patiently with your brothers, and tell them this isn't the way. With understanding goodwill, you are obligated to seek to change their attitudes....Always be sure that you struggle with Christian methods and Christian weapons. Never succumb to the temptation of becoming bitter. As you press on for justice, be sure to move with dignity and discipline, using only the weapon of love. Let no man pull you so low as to hate him."
The Rev. Jeremiah Wright's preaching bears little resemblance to the Christian message King was preaching during much more difficult times for blacks in this country. Wright preaches that "white man's greed runs a world in need." Wright preaches that "the government gives them [blacks] the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law [and] then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no. Not God Bless America, God d--- America!" Wright declares from the pulpit, "Who cares about what a poor black man has to face every day in a country and a culture controlled by rich white people....Jesus was a poor black man who lived in a country and who lived in a culture that was controlled by rich white people. The Romans were rich. The Romans were Italians, which means they were European which means they were white!" After the attacks of September 11, Wright preached that "America's chickens are coming home to roost," because "we have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans" and "the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back into our own front yard." We brought it on ourselves. Wright gives a lifetime achievement award to Louis Farrakhan, who openly proclaims his anti-Semitism, calling Judaism a "gutter religion" and Hitler "a very great man." Martin Luther King stood up for blacks, fought against racism and segregation, and ultimately gave his life for those causes. He also preached the gospel of Jesus Christ, not a gospel of victimhood and hatred. I cannot say what he might think of Jeremiah Wright. But there is no denying what he preached. This is from one of King's sermons called "Rediscovering Lost Values":
"[W]e have adopted a sort of pragmatic test for right and wrong – whatever works is right....No matter what you do, just do it with a bit of finesse. You know, a sort of attitude of the survival of the slickest....It's all right to lie, but lie with dignity. It's all right to steal and to rob and extort, but do it with a bit of finesse. It's even all right to hate, but just dress your hate up in the garments of love and make it appear that you are loving when you are actually hating."

Same Sex Marriage

CALIFORNIA'S LARGEST COMMUNITY COLLEGE SUPPORTS TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE-"The students of American River College, the largest community college in California, rejected an attempt to recall nine student council members in response to their endorsement of Prop. 8. Results of the vote were released by college officials Thursday afternoon. All of the student council members targeted survived the recall by a 200-300 vote margin out of the 3,531 ballots cast on Tuesday and Wednesday.
"This is a great development for supporters of traditional marriage.Despite the efforts of gay activists and a media frenzy, the students themselves have reaffirmed support for traditional marriage," said Chip White, press secretary for Yes on 8. "This is exactly what will happen when voters finally have their say on November 4."
According to the Sacramento Bee, student council member Viktor Choban, 25, said he voted his conscience. "This resolution has everything to do with education because it affects all the public schools and colleges," the Bee quoted Choban as saying. "If Proposition 8 fails, schools will absolutely be required to teach that gay marriage is equal to normal marriage, thereby confusing students and children about the most basic roles of men and women in society."

Cal. marriage amendment backers target businesses-"The AP reports: “Leaders of the campaign to outlaw same-sex marriage in California are warning businesses that have given money to the state’s largest gay rights group they will be publicly identified as opponents of traditional unions unless they contribute to the gay marriage ban, too.”

Utility paying price for homosexual support-"& Electric (PG&E). Proposition 8 is designed to overturn the state Supreme Court decision legalizing homosexual "marriage." Brad Dacus of Pacific Justice Institute tells OneNewsNow why many voters are upset with the utility. "Pacific Gas & Electric shocked and stunned many of its customers and shareholders when it decided to give $250,000 dollars -- a quarter of a million dollars -- specifically to oppose Proposition 8, which is a pro-marriage amendment to recognize marriage between one man and one woman," he explains. American Family Association, a pro-family group based in Mississippi, sent its California subscribers an e-mail on the subject and, so far, 4,500 PG&E customers have cancelled service. Dacus expects that number to be 10,000 to 20,000 by Election Day. "People need to understand that there's [sic] two ways they can vote on this issue," he contends. "One is by going to the polls and voting for Prop. 8. The other is by choosing to switch from PG&E to an alternative natural gas provider -- and I think that in the long run, the latter can be just as important." Dacus suggests those interested in alternative utility providers visit NOtoPGE.com."

But First the polls on Media Bias from Pew Research

A poll Big Media doesn't want you to know about. Notice this has been a consistent complaint for awhile but just is more plain this year then ever before.

By Nearly 8-to-1, Voters Say Journalists Want Obama to Win-"Voters overwhelmingly believe that the media wants Barack Obama to win the presidential election," a Pew Research Center for the People and the Press survey released Wednesday discovered. Specifically: "By a margin of 70%-9%, Americans say most journalists want to see Obama, not John McCain, win on Nov. 4. Another 8% say journalists don't favor either candidate, and 13% say they don't know which candidate most reporters support." The question: "Who do you think most newspaper reporters and TV journalists want to see win the presidential election -- Barack Obama or John McCain?" Unsurprisingly, 90 percent of Republicans recognized how journalists hope Obama is victorious, yet so did 62 percent of Democrats and independents.
Pew noted how "in recent presidential campaigns, voters repeatedly have said they thought journalists favored the Democratic candidate over the Republican," but "this year's margin is particularly wide." By comparison: "At this stage of the 2004 campaign, 50% of voters said most journalists wanted to see John Kerry win the election, while 22% said most journalists favored George Bush. In October 2000, 47% of voters said journalists wanted to see Al Gore win and 23% said most journalists wanted Bush to win. In 1996, 59% said journalists were pulling for Bill Clinton."
This year, by party affiliation: "In the current campaign, Republicans, Democrats and independents all feel that the media wants to see Obama win the election. Republicans are almost unanimous in their opinion: 90% of GOP voters say most journalists are pulling for Obama. More than six-in-ten Democratic and independent voters (62% each) say the same."...

Analyst: Network news paying price for liberal bias-"Media analyst Robert Knight believes the consistent drop in viewership of the mainstream media news programs shows that Americans are on to the media's liberal bias, most notably their glowing coverage of Democrat Barack Obama's presidential run.
A study by Nielsen Media Research shows that the Big Three network news programs experienced a sharp drop in viewers last week during the height of the presidential campaign. CBS Evening News with Katie Couric lost a half-million viewers, as did World News with Charlie Gibson on ABC. Ratings leader NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams dropped from 8.2 million viewers to 7.8 million. Robert Knight is director of the Culture and Media Institute (CMI), a division of the Media Research Center. He believes the ratings decline indicates that Americans have a healthy skepticism of the three evening news shows."

Who is smearing who??

As you try to decide who to believe one important fact that most that the media will not tell you is that the very organizations that argue that Same-Sex Marriage will have no effect on public school education are the very organizations that argued the opposite in Massachusettes!!! See below... This will effect how educators educate it is rediculous to think otherwise!!! Letter sent from www.Protectmarriage.com to California superintendent and board stating factually there case that same-sex marriage will effect public education in California-http://www.protectmarriage.com/files/protectmarriage_letter_to_education_leaders_with_exhibits_1.pdf
Yes on 8 Campaign Slams New No Ad with Jack OConnell-""There is no foundation for O’Connell’s untruthful statements that nothing in California law requires teaching about marriage," said Andrew Pugno, general counsel for Yes on 8. "The voters deserve to hear the truth. While O’Connell may personally favor gay marriage, as a public official it is his obligation to tell the truth about California’s education laws."
The Yes on 8 campaign sent a letter to O’Connell yesterday demanding that he retract his misstatements. The letter, which is attached, identifies Education Code sections that demonstrate public schools do teach about marriage, at a rate of 96%.
"Perhaps if O’Connell spent less time making false statements in TV ads," said White, "he’d have more time to read his own website."...FACT SHEET
Superintendent O’Connell:“Prop 8 has nothing to do with schools…Our schools aren’t required to teach anything about marriage…”
FACT:
CaliforniaEducation Code (EC) 51933 specifies that school districts are not required to provide comprehensive sexual health education, but if they choose to do so, they shall comply with all of the requirements listed below.
…Instruction shall encourage communication between students and their
families and shall teach respect for marriageand committed
relationships.(http://www.cde.ca.gov/ls/he/se/sexeducation.asp)
FACT: According to a study posted on the California Department of Education’s (CDE’s) website, 96% of California school districts voluntarily provide classroom instruction under the California Comprehensive Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS Prevention Act (Education Code,§§51930et seq). That study states:
HIV/AIDS prevention education and sex education are nearly universally taught in Californiatoday. Ninety-four percent of surveyed schools
provide HIV/AIDS prevention education, as is mandated by law, and an
even larger number, 96%, provide sex education despite having no
requirement to do so.

Superintendent O’Connell:“Using kids to lie about that is shameful…”
FACT: O’Connell seems content to accuse supporters of Prop 8 of“lying”while deliberately ignoring the rules and researchof his own department."

In email I sent to friends and family concering Prop 8 in California over the issue of same sex marriage...

"Well documented!!! The very groups that are saying that this new ruling by the Supreme Court legalizing same-sex marriage will not effect the lessons imposed on children in public schools are the very groups that argued in Massachusettes that children should not be able to opt out of lessons teaching about same sex marriage. The evidence is below as these groups are documented and quoted as arguing the opposite of their smear campaign of the Yes on Prop 8. Note that the ACLU is included and so let us see what the ACLU argued in the courts of Massachusettes concerning this subject and see whether or not it is consistent either with the Yes on Prop 8 campaign or the No on Prop 8 campaign. The lack of Big Media coverage when one side is getting away with smearing the other side only aides one side. Just another example of how Big Media is no different then the ACLU, Planned Parenthood or the others on this side. So I don't see how one can not equate Big Media to these groups that are wasting away Traditional American Values. Big Media is a Big Problem and are ingoring Big Issues that would probabily otherwise be interesting to millions if it weren't for the fact that they are never reported on. Makes wonder how many people voting out there are really voting with enough information to make a vote that is truely their own. Makes you wonder how many voters are out there voting with only enough information to make a vote that is really not their own being influenced by the Biggest Profiteering Lobby from the left to the American people, Big Media."

Not to mention if you haven't been listening to news from the internet you probabily wouldn't know that same sex marriage has now been legalized in Connecticut by a 4-3 decision, also!!!!

Here is the article documented on www.protectmarriage.com against the smears on the left!!!
Proposition 8: Who’s Really Lying?-"Public Records Show Proposition 8 Opponents Want Gay Marriage To Be Taught In Public Schools – ‘The earlier the better.’

The top issue that has emerged in the Proposition 8 campaign is whether same-sex marriage will be taught in California public schools if the initiative is not enacted. Opponents of Proposition 8 are spending millions of dollars on television commercials telling voters that the Yes on 8 campaign’s claim that gay marriage will be taught in public schools is a lie. Yet a review of public records filed with the First District Court of Appeal in Boston shows these same organizations who claim our statement is a lie fought to make it true in Massachusetts. Specifically, they fought to ensure that gay marriage be taught in Massachusetts public schools, even over the objection of parents who sought an “opt out” for their children.
Gay marriage was legalized by Massachusetts courts in 2003.
Further, their assurance that parents can always “opt-out” of such instruction when it is taught is belied by the fact that in Massachusetts, they argued successfully that Massachusetts’ parental opt-out provision should not be permitted.
These damning public records show that it is in fact the organizations leading and financing the No on 8 campaign who are lying to California voters,” said Yes on 8 campaign manager Frank Schubert. “On one coast of the country they tell judges that gay marriage should be taught to children in school at the youngest possible age. But, on the opposite coast, here in California, they have the audacity to tell voters that gay marriage has nothing to do with public schools.”
Lying…who’s really lying?
The Yes on 8 campaign has been airing television and radio commercials factually presenting what happened in Massachusetts where second graders were taught in class about gay marriage using the book, “King and King.” This book is about a prince who married another prince, and includes an illustrated scene of the two men kissing. In response, the No on 8 campaign has purchased at least $1.25 million in television time to run an ad that says, “They’re using lies to persuade you…[Prop. 8] will not affect teaching in schools. Another lie.” (Source: No on Prop. 8 Ad available at www.noonprop8.com)
In the greatest irony, of course, just two days after the No on 8 “Lies” television commercial began airing, a first grade public school class in San Francisco was taken on a field trip to a lesbian wedding at City Hall, officiated by Mayor Gavin Newsom. School officials said they wished to provide their five and six year old students a “teachable moment.”
It should also be noted that the day after the first Yes on 8 ads began running, the Los Angeles Times reported that "Newsom called the (Yes on 8) ad 'classic distraction' and misleading." Ten days later, he officiated at the above-mentioned and now infamous field trip.
“Not only do the organizations leading the No on 8 campaign want gay marriage, under the guise of ‘diversity,’ taught in public schools, they believe it is important to teach it at the earliest possible age,” Schubert said. Massachusetts begins its “diversity education” to five year old children in kindergarten.
According to legal records on file with the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in Boston, Massachusetts in the case Parker v. Hurley (514 F.3d 87 (1st Cir.2008)), some of the very organizations who are funding and driving the No on 8 campaign have argued vociferously that gay marriage should be taught in the public schools under the guise of “diversity,” and any attempt to prohibit such instruction – or to permit parents to opt their children out of it – must be stopped.
The following are statements filed in amicus curiae briefs in Parker v. Hurley. The statements show how organizations leading the No on 8 campaign are lying to California voters when they say gay marriage will not be taught in California public schools.
From the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Amicus Curiae Brief:
“In the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, where the right of same-sex couples to marry is protected under the state constitution, it is particularly important to teach children about families with gay parents.” [p 5]
“Diversity education is most effective when it begins during the students’ formative years. The earlier diversity education occurs, the more likely it is that students will be able to educate their peers, thereby compounding the benefits of this instruction.” [p 3]
(Note: The ADL is a leading member of the No on 8 campaign, and publicly announced they had joined the campaign opposing Proposition 8 on September 9, 2008.)
From the Human Rights Campaign Amicus Curiae Brief:
“There is no constitutional principle grounded in either the First Amendment’s free exercise clause or the right to direct the upbringing of one’s children, which requires defendants to either remove the books now in issue – or to treat them as suspect by imposing an opt-out system.” [pp1-2]
“In short, there can be no serious dispute that the books in issue are both age-appropriate and reflect the growing diversity of American families.” [p 9]
“Lexington’s selection of the [three] books…for inclusion in its curriculum is firmly rooted in the long-recognized tradition of public schools as a place for disseminating the knowledge and information that helps to foster understanding between diverse groups and individuals for the overall benefit of society.” [p 13]
(Note: The Human Rights Campaign has organized one of the largest recipient committees to oppose Proposition 8. The committee, Human Rights Campaign CA Marriage PAC (ID# 1307246) has received more than $2.2 million in contributions (as of 10/8/08), including over $100,000 from the Human Rights Campaign itself in non-monetary contributions. The committee has funneled over $2 million of its funds to No on 8, Equality for All (ID# 1259396), the main No on Proposition 8 campaign committee.)
From the ACLU Amicus Curiae Brief:
“Specifically, the parents in this case do not have a constitutional right to override the professional pedagogical judgment of the school with respect to the inclusion within the curriculum of the age-appropriate children’s book…King and King.” [p 9]
“This court has astutely recognized that a broad right of a parent to opt a child out of a lesson would fatally compromise the ability of a school to provide a meaningful education, a conclusion that holds true regardless of the age of the child or the nature of the belief.” [p 18]
“First, a broad right of a parent to opt a child out of a lesson would subject a school to a staggering administrative burden…Second, in contravention of the axiom that ‘the classroom is peculiarly the ‘marketplace of ideas’’ [citations], a broad right of a parent to opt a child out of a lesson would chill discussion in the classroom…Third, the coming and goings of those children who have been opted out of lessons would be highly disruptive to the learning environment. Moreover, such comings and goings would fatally undermine the lessons that schools teach the other students.” [pp 22-23]
(Note: The Northern California Chapter of the ACLU has also formed a Proposition 8 opposition committee: No on Prop 8, Campaign for Marriage Equality, a project of the ACLU of Northern California (ID# 1308178). This committee has collected $1.6 million in contributions (as of 10/8/08), including more than $70,000 from the ACLU of northern California, as well as $8,000 from the ACLU Foundation. This committee has contributed $1,250,000 to No on 8, Equality for All (ID# 1259396), the main No on Proposition 8 campaign committee.)

These are the facts. This is the truth about the calculated efforts to deliver gay marriage into our public school classrooms, against the wishes of the people of our state. Voters may differ about how they feel about gay marriage, but there is no disputing that the organizations funding and leading the No on Proposition 8 campaign have already revealed, in their own words, their desire to impose this subject on children in the public schools – ‘whether you like it or not.’"

Top Cal. public schools official makes war on marriage-"NoonProp8 carries this post that begins: “Today, the NO on Prop 8 campaign released a tough new television ad featuring California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell, who voiced his strong opposition to Prop 8 and the lies about the public education system.” The ad can be viewed at this YouTube link. The ad declares: “it is wrong to eliminate fundamental rights.”
The PR Newswire carries this report: Yes on 8 Campaign Slams New ‘No’ Ad with Jack O’Connell. It indicates:
. . . The real fact, as stated clearly in the “Yes on 8″ ads, are that, whether it is technically “required” or not, that virtually all schools in California do teach marriage now, and if gay marriage is legal, they will be REQUIRED to teach about gay marriage as well, because that will be the definition of marriage.
“O’Connell’s cleverly worded denials try to trick voters into thinking schools do not teach about marriage,” said Chip White, press secretary for Yes on 8. “But for the 96% of public schools that teach sex education, state law requires them to teach about marriage.”

It concludes:
In addition to vigorously fighting school choice and other reforms that benefit underprivileged children but threaten the public education monopoly, the NEA has directly (or via state affiliates) bankrolled Acorn, the Democratic Leadership Council, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and, naturally, the Human Rights Campaign, which lobbies for “lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equal rights.”

But First some news of interest McCain vs Obama on campaign financing

Cha-Ching - Obama Raises $ea of Ca$h-"No matter what else happens in the last couple of weeks up to the election, this is known: Barack Obama is going to drown John McCain in a sea of cash.
The Illinois senator has now raised more than $600 million - more than George Bush and John Kerry combined in the last presidential race...The amount of money is stunning. More than $150 million flooded into Obama's campaign in just the month of September - more than McCain has managed to raise in his entire presidential run....Obama broke a promise to accept public financing.
Ironically, because McCain agreed to accept that same public financing, his spending is now limited by the very McCain-Feingold rules he helped ram into law.
"

Obama spends more than $21M on polling and nearly $200M on media-"OpenSecrets.org carries a breakdown on spending by the Obama campaign. The site was linked through the Drudge Report so its servers may be temporarily overwhelmed."

That election occurred in 1876 when Republican Rutherford B. Hayes succeeded President Ulysses S. Grant in a race against Democrat Samuel Jones Tilden."

Obama angry at FOX for tarnishing halo effect-"In a recently published interview for the New York Times Magazine, the Democratic presidential candidate said: "I'm convinced that if there were no FOX News, I might be two or three points higher in the polls. If I were watching FOX News, I wouldn't vote for me, right? Because the way I'm portrayed 24/7 is as a freak!"...But "He's gotten unabashed, loving coverage from all three broadcast networks, the vast majority of the cable news networks, and every print publication you can imagine," says Motley. "It has been wall-to-wall glowing coverage." FOX News, says Motley, has the "audacity to report on [Obama] as he is and quote him verbatim" -- and somehow, adds the MRC spokesman, the presidential hopeful credits that for a downtick of two or three percent in his polling. "[For him to single-out FOX News is] just a staggeringly myopic view of the media and how he's been treated during his presidential run," he says. In contrast, Motley suggests that if not for the pro-Obama bias of The New York Times and the rest of the mainstream media, John McCain would be up 20 percent."

Obama Sends His Kids to Private School But Opposes School Choice Vouchers-"As chairman of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) from 1995 to 2001, Barack Obama helped distribute $49.2 million to help improve Chicago’s public schools, a task for the CAC that two studies showed had little or no impact on improving public education. Despite his work to improve Chicago’s public schools, the 2008 Democratic presidential nominee sends his two daughters to the University of Chicago’s Laboratory School, a prestigious private school in Chicago – and he opposes school vouchers, which would allow parents to send their kids to the school of their choice."-See School Choice and British Comedy. South Dakota Pro-Life Group Files Lawsuit Over Misleading Abortion Ban Ads-"A first ban on abortion with only the life of the mother exception failed at the polls in 2006 but surveys showed South Dakota residents would support a ban on most all abortions if rape and incest exceptions were added.
Vote Yes for Life says the pro-abortion ads falsely claim that, if Measure 11 passes, government will be involved in deciding if a woman could have an abortion when faced with medical conditions that present a risk to her health. Nothing could be further from the truth, the group contends.
"The law is clear and it will not affect the way doctors currently practice medicine," Dr. Yvonne Seger, a Sioux Falls OBGYN and Measure 11 backer, told LifeNews.com.
Dr. Jane Gaetze, another OBGYN who supports Measure 11, added: "Diabetes, hypertension and cancer are all clearly covered in the context of Measure 11. The claims on the ad are completely false."
According to the pro-life group, 11 legal experts spent 8 months evaluating the law before it was placed on the ballot and they gave special attention to these extremely rare cases to protect doctors when the life and health of the mother is at risk...."The pro-abortionists are not debating the law on its goal of ending abortion as a form of birth control. They know they will lose that debate with the people of South Dakota," Brandi Gruis with Vote Yes for Life added.
"They are not arguing that abortion should be used as a means of birth control because they know that the people of South Dakota want to end the use of abortion as birth control," she explained. "As a result, they are attempting to confuse the voting public by picking out highly technical issues, and misrepresenting the facts concerning those issues, believing that the people won't know that they are not telling the truth. That practice is unethical and we are acting to bring it to an end."
"The fact is, 97% of abortions being done in our state are done for no medical reason at all and many women are having repeat abortions," Gruis concluded. "Measure 11 is designed to stop those abortions, while leaving very clear exceptions for rare cases of rape and incest and to protect the life and health of the mother."

But First a First Amendment Victory partaining to Prop. 8

Chino Hills: Cal. marriage amendment supporters enduring hassles, vandalism-"Supporters of Proposition 8 in Chino Hills have been facing antagonism from two sources: vandals and city hall.
City officials threatened to fine a church for distributing “Yes on 8” signs and residents who place the signs in their yards. The city backed down after Alliance Defense Fund attorneys sent a letter to the mayor. Meanwhile, Chino Hills police are still investigating vandalism to two cars belonging to a family supporting the proposition....A city ordinance prohibits placing political signs on private property unless the property owner gets a permit and pays a $250 deposit.
The city attorney responded Friday with assurances that the sign law would not be enforced against the homeowners or the church (www.telladf.org/UserDocs/ChinoHillsResponse.pdf). A few days after a “Yes on 8” sign was stolen from the yard of a family attending the church, vandals damaged two of the family’s cars. The vandals keyed messages including “Gay Sex is Love” and “SEX” into the paint of one car and wrote other graphic messages in permanent marker all over both vehicles. They also bent the rear windshield wiper of one car and broke off the antenna of the other. (www.telladf.org/UserDocs/ChinoVandalism.jpg)"

McCain vs Obama

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: McCain, Obama on 'gay rights'-"This is the sixth in a series of stories focusing on one specific national issue and detailing where the two major presidential candidates stand. Called "In Their Own Words," the stories avoid commentary and instead present the candidates' views as they have stated them in the past -- either in interviews, speeches, debates or on their campaign websites.Baptist Press in recent weeks has spotlighted the issues of abortion, Iraq the Supreme Court, the energy crisis and immigration reform. Today, BP takes a look at the candidates' positions on "gay rights."

Barack Obama: "Obama on the proposed California marriage amendment (Proposition 8), which would overturn the state Supreme Court's ruling legalizing "gay marriage": "I oppose the divisive and discriminatory efforts to amend the California Constitution, and similar efforts to amend the U.S. Constitution or those of other states. For too long, issues of LGBT rights have been exploited by those seeking to divide us. (letter to Alice B. Toklas Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Democratic Club, June 29, 2008, available at BarackObama.com)"

McCain: "McCain on the proposed California marriage amendment (Proposition 8), which would overturn the state Supreme Court's ruling legalizing "gay marriage": "I support the efforts of the people of California to recognize marriage as a unique institution between a man and a woman, just as we did in my home state of Arizona. I do not believe judges should be making these decisions" (McCain statement to ProtectMarriage.com)."

Palin vs Biden

Educators' dues being used against Prop. 8-"Many Christian teachers in California are upset with their union for donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to defeat Proposition 8, and then writing a check for another million dollars on top of that.

California Teachers Association, the state affiliate of the National Education Association, has made the donations to kill Prop. 8, a November 4 voter initiative that would overturn the state Supreme Court's decision in May to legalize homosexual "marriage." After stating it only makes recommendations to union members -- "The final choice is always up to you," the union states on its website -- CTA contends passage of the proposition would establish "one set of rules for gay and lesbian couples and another set of rules for everyone else. That's not fair." Finn Laursen, director of the Christian Educators Association International -- which offers educators an alternative to the liberal efforts of the NEA -- reacts to the news of CTA members' dues being used to undermine traditional marriage. "That's obviously what the union has decided," he says. "That money speaks loudly so they're going to invest in the political arena in one of their agendas."

As I mentioned below, the National Education Association — basically an advocacy group and a labor union — refused to lease Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays (PFOX) exhibit space at its 2002 convention, because the NEA disapproved of PFOX’s position that gays and lesbians can and ought to “make the choice to leave homosexuality.” PFOX then sued, claiming that this constituted sexual orientation discrimination in a place of public accommodation, in violation of D.C. human rights law.

Hollywood money boosts opponents of Calif. amend. -"Proposition 8 opponents have raised $6.8 million since Oct. 7, when officials with the No on 8 campaign held a press call with reporters acknowledging they were trailing in polls and urging their constituents to donate. Prop 8 supporters have raised $1.2 million since that day. For the month of October, opponents have brought in $8.3 million -- much of it from Hollywood, including a $100,000 donation from comedian Ellen DeGeneres and $50,000 from George Lucas of "Star Wars" fame -- while opponents have raised $1.5 million. Hollywood was scheduled to add even more to the coffers Oct. 21, with Melissa Etheridge and Mary J. Blige singing at a $25,000-a-plate fundraiser for No on 8 in Beverly Hills. Meanwhile, in a controversial move, the California Teachers Association also donated $1 million....DeGeneres and Lucas aren't the only big name or notable donors to the No on 8 campaign since Oct. 7. Policy Change On Gay Pride Parade Results In Injunction Denial For Firefighters-"Last week, a San Diego (CA) Superior Court judge refused to grant an injunction sought by four Catholic firefighters who objected to being required to participate in the local Gay Pride Parade. The complaint alleged that forced participation violated the firefighters' free speech rights. Developments in the case were reported in yesterday's Gay & Lesbian Times. The court said that an injunction goes to future action, and is not a punishment for past conduct. Future problems are unlikely because the city has changed its policy so that now no firefighter who is unwilling to do so will be required to participate in the Pride parade. Earlier this month, the jury deadlocked in a civil damage action by the firefighters claiming sexual harassment when they were required to operate a fire truck in the 2007 parade. From JillStanek.com (Jill Stanek the christian nurse who testified before Obama pleading for protection of infants born alive after a failed abortion.)

Who are we going to believe? A disconnected politician in congress and Big Media's lack of reporting or a nurse on the front lines laboring away in a soiled utility room for protection of infants born alive after a failed abortion. Obama was the only politician according to government recordings of the hearings on this issue in Illinois to speak out against further protections of these infants. See http://www.bornalivetruth.org/ for the facts and documentation on this issue. Hear and audio recording of Obama himself speaking up against protection for unborn children at Jill Stanek vs Obama. Obama caught on tape arguing against giving medical attention to aborted babies....

I challenge and make a claim that this blogger (Jill Stanek) has done better journalism and documentary evidence then Big Media has done on Obama on this issue many many times over. Go ahead and check out all the reports by Big Media (CBS, ABC, NBC and PBS) that you can look up which as of June 2008 was only 6 out of 1289 stories done on the issue of abortion in general and 0 on this issue and then compare Big Media's lack of reporting with what is documented on JillStanek.com and ask yourself why has not Big Media dealt with the very woman who was involved in this issue in the first place and her recordings of Obama and documentation? This election has been one of the biggest revealers of where Big Media stands on the issue of abortion which also brings into question Big Media's integrity on other issues. See below...

If you believe you are doing the right thing in voting for Obama because the economy is so bad check into the facts on that issue to. The same Big Media that is not informing you on this issue of abortion is the same Big Media that is not informing you on the economy. See The market that failed was not exactly free. which has links to 2 New York Times articles from 1999 and 2003 before all this election, a recent Boston Globe and Washington Post articles that are both left leaning newspapers but none the less make valid points that are absent in Big Media concerning the economy. So don't be doubly duped. Vote your conscience!!!

Med student's "freaked out" day at Planned Parenthood -"Dawn Patrol caught the following disturbing blog post early yesterday and fortunately captured it, because not only was the post removed by late morning, by late evening the entire blog, PuduOverload, was gone."-Check out this blog done by a Med Student, who is not exactly pro-life but may be now, after she attends some abortions.

Catholic war over Obama escalates-"Read the rest of the story on page 2. I love Chaput. Here's a great line from later in the story: "To suggest - as some Catholics do - that Senator Obama is this year's 'real' pro-life candidate requires a peculiar kind of self-hypnosis, or moral confusion, or worse.""-Jill Stanek.

Breaking news: RNC releases mailer attacking Obama on Born Alive-"And it's perfect..."-Says Jill Stanek the very nurse that testified before Obama pleading for protection of these infants born alive after a failed abortion and the nurse responsible for bringing this issue to the attention of the American Republic with no thanks to Big Media!!! Check out the mailer!!!

MD county halts sign ordinance during pro-life lawsuit-"I reported in August that 18 pro-lifers were arrested while peacefully conducting a Truth Tour picket (pictured right) in Hartford Co., MD.
Even as pro-abort commenters here argued in vain against the pro-lifers' First Amendment rights by saying they violated some highway law, the county and City of Bel Air tried to quietly drop charges 10 days later.
No dice. The pro-lifers sued....

Now, WorldNetDaily.com reported yesterday....
A county in MD has agreed to halt enforcement of a sign ordinance that was cited when members of a team of pro-lifer protesters were arrested, shackled and strip-searched while expressing their opposition to abortion.
According to a statement from the Alliance Defense Fund, a consent agreement has been reached that will halt enforcement of the ordinance while its constitutionality is argued in federal court.
"It is unconstitutional to require small groups of Christians to obtain permits to exercise their First Amendment rights in a public area like the one involved in this case," ADF Senior Counsel Kevin Theriot said. "Police used this permit requirement as part of their justification for the unacceptable treatment of our clients, who simply desired to share their pro-life message."

Pro-life pharmacy opens TODAY-"I reported in June that a pro-life pharmacy would be opening soon in Chantilly, VA.
Well, today's the big day. Reports Washington Times:
When Divine Mercy Care Pharmacy opens Tuesday... there will be no birth-control pills, condoms, cigarettes or pornographic magazines. There will, however, be booklets on natural family planning.
DMC Pharmacy is one of the country's few "pro-life pharmacies" that refuse to dispense contraceptives on moral and health grounds, arguing that they cause abortions, lead to promiscuity or endanger a woman's health.
"Birth control is not health care," said Robert Laird (pictured right), executive director of DMC, the Fairfax nonprofit that will own and operate the 1,500-square-foot store at 13945 Metrotech Dr. "We are catering to a special niche of people who like the pro-life message in their business."...NARAL Pro-Choice America did not return a call asking for comment on the pharmacy, but its VA affiliate has run an alert on its Web site, http://www.naralva.org/instate/pharmacy.shtml, saying, "Birth control is basic health care for women." It urges a boycott of the DMC store, contending that "a pharmacy that doesn't respect your choices doesn't deserve your business."...It won't be just a Catholic pharmacy," [ob/gyn Dr. John Bruchalski, president and chairman of DMC's board] said. "It's trying to build a culture of life. We want to let the market decide if we are worthy of support and trust and not anyone's social agenda. I believe there are a significant number of people who have tolerated this slowly encroaching culture of brokenness. When given an option, they will actually choose something other"

Other Pro-Life News

Pro-Life Movement May Lose for Decades at Supreme Court With Barack Obama-"McCain’s quip about the comparative merits of “eloquence” and paying attention to “words” seemed to hit home....McCain’s effort was to depict Obama as an abortion extremist, and he succeeded. On partial-birth abortion and providing medical care for infants who survive abortion, Obama was reduced to muttering about a “health exception,” which, as he surely knows, means that the abortion license is, in fact, totally unlimited since the denial of a woman’s desire to terminate the life of the infant is construed as a violation of her “psychological health.”...This, together with his adamant support for the government funding of abortion and for the Freedom of Choice Act, which would eliminate all state regulation of abortion–including waiting periods, parental notification, and other very modest measures–leaves no doubt that Senator Obama is on the farthest edge of abortion extremism. And it highlights what is arguably the most important single issue in this election: Who, as president, will get to nominate the next one, or two, or three, justices to the Supreme Court..."-Excellent article must read!!!

“This Is Madness, People”: In Surprise Cameo, Scranton Bishop repudiates vague USCCB statements and pro-abortion politicians-"The Whispers in the Loggia Blog reports:
. . . A presidential election forum at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church on Sunday centered mainly on abortion. The argument and audience, however, erupted when Diocese of Scranton Bishop Joseph F. Martino unexpectedly arrived and vehemently expressed his distaste for what was said about the church’s stance on voting for pro-choice candidates and the exclusion of his anti-abortion letter at the forum, which recommends voting against pro-choice candidates for moral reasons….
Martino, who arrived while the panelists were stating their viewpoints, took issue with the USCCB statement, which was handed out to everyone at the meeting, and also that his letter was not mentioned once at the forum . . .

Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland Sees Thousands Rally Against Abortion, Petitions Presented-"Thousands of pro-life advocates rallied in Northern Ireland over the weekend against a measure in a bill in the England parliament that would legalize abortion there. The high turnout at the Rally for Life made it clear that residents of the region do not want legal abortions there.
Undaunted by the heavy rain, the enthusiastic crowd cheered as their local MPs and Assembly Members, together with representatives of local, national and international pro-life groups pledged to stop abortion being forced on Northern Ireland.
Bernadette Smyth, who organized the rally, told LifeNews.com, "I was overwhelmed to see so many people standing in defense of our unborn children. Thousands of people from the different traditions in Northern Ireland stood united at this historic 'Rally for Life' to hear our local politicians reiterate the cross-party opposition to the extension of the Abortion Act."...Following up on the successful rally, Precious Life will be joined by representatives of the other Northern Ireland pro-life groups to make a presentation of 120,000 petitions to the Prime Minister today...She said the "petitions presented to Gordon Brown will ensure that Westminster cannot ignore the fact that there is no will from the vast majority of people in Northern Ireland to extend the 1967 Abortion Act to this part of the United Kingdom."Smyth concluded "Precious Life call on all Westminster MPs to acknowledge the clear pro-life message being sent out from the politicians, the churches, and the people in Northern Ireland. We urge all MPs in Westminster to vote against the amendment."-Related web sites:Precious Life - http://www.preciouslife.com/.
