'Fireproof' Actor Talks about DVD Release

The Christian blockbuster hit "Fireproof" will be released on DVD Tuesday.

Fireproof, the independent film about a man's fight to save his marriage, debuted at No. 4 at the box office in September. It quickly became the highest grossing Christian film of all time grossing $6.5 million.

CBN News' Donna Russell recently spoke to actor Kirk Cameron about the success of the movie Fireproof and the upcoming DVD release. Click play to watch.

'Fireproof' Surprise Hit

Christian retailers have already taken pre-orders for the DVD.

The faith-based movie starred actor Kirk Cameron and was directed and produced by the Kendrick brothers of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Ga., on a $500,000 budget.

Cameron says the movie has started a movement with churches all over the country.

"I heard stories of couples walking out of the theater holding hands, renewing their vows, getting new wedding rings, and just restoring their marriages, some people canceling their divorce hearings," he said.

The DVD also features bonus footage, a commentary by Kirk Cameron, bloopers, and rescued scenes."

"Kirk is best known as the lovable teen heartthrob Mike Seaver, of the award winning series Growing Pains. He entertained audiences worldwide as the charming troublemaker. He is also known to many Christians as "Buck Williams" from the Left Behind films -- based on the NY Times runaway best selling novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins.

But much more noteworthy than his acting career was his conversion to Christianity. Kirk was not raised in a church-going home and describes himself as a devout atheist from a very young age.
