Hopefully some interesting points.
It looks like the boycott is official now (see below email letter from AFA). I disagree with the email that the letter back to them was all that condescending. However, I do agree that Pepsico is taking sides on this issue and if they are going to have sexual orientation classes that they should include a viewpoint of ex-gays and religious folk in that same class for equal treatment cause if the otherside continues to be fed the understanding of the HRC and no otherside on this issue then religious viewpoints will indeed continue to be silenced and discriminated against as is evidenced by the HRC's letter to Obama concerning Rick Warren. See below...
Below are HRC's (one of the groups that Pepsico gave $500,000 and the other group that Pepsico gave $500,000 to is the same on this issue) comments to Obama concerning Rick Warren when Obama picked him as opening prayer man at his inaguaration at Liberals Angry at Obama for Rick Warren Pick
Here are some excerpts in non bold italics and my comments in bold.
"by inviting Rick Warren to your inauguration, you have tarnished the view that gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans have a place at your table."
Why?
"Rev. Warren spoke out vocally in support of Prop 8 in California"
Fair enough. I would feel the same if an openly anti-religious unbiblical gay rights activist was opening for McCain if McCain won. But I thought the HRC was an inclusive organization. So what is the Big Deal from their perspective? That is Rick Warren's religious view as much as any gay activist has his religious view. Not to mention that Obama publicly does not support gay marriages either.
Now, note this contradiction/self refutation below considering that HRC is sending this letter to Obama in the first place concerning reasons why Obama should have not chosen (silenced) Rick Warren because of his religious views expressed publicly as HRC letter to Obama continues!!!
"Furthermore, he continues to misrepresent marriage equality as silencing his religious views. This was a lie during the battle over Proposition 8, and it's a lie today."
1) No it is not a lie. Rather it's evidenced by this very letter to Obama.
2) The religious are currently, have been and will continue to be silenced (worse equated to the KKK, racist or some phobia which gives the incentive to silence religious people which is indeed what marriage equality would in principle lead to) if groups like the HRC have their way. It is not a lie. Rather it is a lie to say otherwise and this letter proves that. If HRC wanted to really prove Warren's "lies" then they should have never sent this letter along with many other past like actions and statements by the HRC. They should have acted equally inclusive. Continue below...
"Rev. Warren cannot name a single theological issue that he and vehemently, anti-gay theologian James Dobson disagree on."
1) And what is so bad about Dobson. Dobson is a model example of how one can disagree with another and yet pray for and love the other.
2) Again this statement evidences furthermore the will of the HRC to silence those of opposing religious viewpoints. HRC is hardly INCLUSIVE nor EQUAL toward all members of our society. They refute their own goals set forth on their web site.
"We have been moved by your calls to religious leaders to own up to the homophobia and racism that has stood in the way of combating HIV and AIDS in this country. And that you have publicly called on religious leaders to open their hearts to their LGBT family members, neighbors and friends."
1) This assumes that Warren and Dobson have no open hearts for the LGBT community. I am not as knowledgeable on Warren but Dobson I am very familiar with and this needs a response. There are many ex-gays that would testify to the opposite of this and evidence the contrary and are thankful for religious leaders like Dobson.
2) One of the major concerns that christians and others have when it comes to HIV and AIDS is that the homosexual lifestyle is dangerous just because of this fact. And so they provide ministries to those who desire to change and have successfully been able to do so and they educate the public concerning these dangers of a homosexual lifestyle which is deeply lacking in the public. This is not homophobia these are the unfortunate facts. HIV and AIDS is much more prevalent amongst homosexuals then heterosexuals. Now the reasons why this is the fact may be argued back and forth but the fact remains and thus it is loving to share these facts and persuade another coarse especially when one willingly desires to do so. There is nothing racist, homophobic, noninclusive, unequal nor unloving about that.
3) If Warren and Dobson are homophobic and racist then mere disagreement is phobic and racist. For more radical and extreme redefinitions by those on the radical and extreme liberal left see Chris Matthews at MSNBC introduces his viewers to new definitions of objectivity and journalism..
Radical and extreme are terms that just for fun I have taken out of the radical and extreme left dictionary that have been radically, extremely, innappropriately and irrationally applied to rational conservative viewpoints to make us appear as such with no rational basis for doing so that I have then turned around to rationally and appropriately apply these terms to truely irrational, radical and extreme left redefinitions of such words and that rationally so.
See for yourself what is really extreme and radical. This is not ridicule this may just be the case. And I will leave it up to you to form your own opinion....
P.S.-I understand that not all those on the left are exactly this way and that some on the right are indeed extreme and radical. I found evidence of one on the left that isn't so radically nor extremely left at Who said, "Opposing same-sex marriage does not make Warren — or anyone else — bigoted or hateful."? Actually a homosexual!!! and I am sure there are others. As far as those on the right that are indeed radical I am sure the media has made you aware of them but just be cautious and make sure that party is really radical and extreme after all they had Sarah Palin in that category as CNN recently included her on a list of the top corrupt politicians of 2008 with Blagojevich, Spitzer, Edwards and others (all of which were democrats but one which is not clearly noted either) and then unapologetically took her off the list see Breaking News!!! CNN puts Palin in with 7 other corrupt politicians as Fallen from Grace and apparently has taken her off with no apology as of yet... and I just found this post at the Huffington Post (a liberal online source) at Greta Van Susteren Slams CNN For Insulting Sarah Palin. See what some liberals say of Palin in their comments over this subject and some even said that CNN should have kept her in the list!!!
Take care all....
An applicable Bible verse "Not only that—count yourselves blessed every time people put you down or throw you out or speak lies about you to discredit me. What it means is that the truth is too close for comfort and they are uncomfortable. You can be glad when that happens—give a cheer, even!—for though they don't like it, I do! And all heaven applauds. And know that you are in good company. My prophets and witnesses have always gotten into this kind of trouble."-Non literal translation of course but very interesting anyway. Very loose obviously. For those who want a more literal translation for accuracy: "Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."-Matthew 5:11,12
So if you believe homosexuality is sin just like any other sin that you commit also and that Christ came to die for all sinners and that repentence and change are possible in Christ and you actually let your believe be made known in love then if they call you a bigot/homophobic/racist for it then just remember what Christ said above and lastly, "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you....For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?"-Matthew 5:44-47
