Below are portions of two articles concerning Obama's speech at Notre Dame on the issue of Embryonic Stem Cell Research and Conscience Rights for Health Care Professionals from a great source of news at LifeNews.com. Also, are two videos from earlier posts at Values Voter News for more context and point.
LifeNews.com reports that Obama continues to speak about the need of Embryonic Stem Cell Research and completely ignores the more successful Adult Stem Cell Research which President Bush and the prolife community have been pushing for some time. See First, Dr Oz on the Oprah Winfrey supports Adult Stem Cell research and now, Al Gore invests $20 million into adult stem cell research and Adult Stem Cell research makes Oprah Winfrey Show with a lesson in Liberal Media Bias.
Obama said, "Those who speak out against stem cell research may be rooted in admirable conviction about the sacredness of life, but so are the parents of a child with juvenile diabetes who are convinced that their son’s or daughter’s hardships can be relieved,"
However, just last month, new research using adult stem cells slowed further insulin independence for Type 1 diabetes patients.
The study, led by Richard Burt of Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, is the second in the last two years to show significant progress in diabetes using the noncontroversial stem cells.
It showed patients receiving injections with adult stem cells were able to go as long as four years without having to rely on insulin shots."

Below is a quote of part of Obama's speech at Notre Dame where he says this is an area where common ground can be found which is conscience rights. Now considering that Obama has been the most anti-life and non centrist president on the issue of abortion see video below and/or Obama's first 100 days reveal Obama is nowhere close to the middle on social issues and especially abortion. do you think we need a little more then talk. Also, consider No middle ground from Obama on the issue of abortion anywhere...Now Major Pro-Life groups had no seat at Health Care Summit and more and even if he does something centrist may the glory go to those who care for the unborn and conscience rights of those who do so too and sent over 340,000 comments to government web site concerning this issue.
LifeNews.com reports that Obama says he seeks abortion conscience rights for health care professionals and at the same time he is repealing a law that would strengthen conscience rights. Kind of like Obama saying his view on marriage is between a man and a woman but at the same time seeks to repeal the bipartisan Defense of Marriage act. Or that he seeks to reduce abortions and yet is the biggest funder of them and promoter of the rights of women to destroy the rights of the unborn.
Obama said, "Let’s honor the conscience of those who disagree with abortion, and draft a sensible conscience clause, and make sure that all of our health care policies are grounded in clear ethics and sound science, as well as respect for the equality of women," Obama said.
But, in listening to Obama's speech, bioethics attorney Wesley J. Smith was struck by Obama's esurient desire to be seen as moderate on abortion yet taking hypocritical actions.
"I was reminded of how adept Obama is in saying one thing while doing just the opposite; such as claiming in his speech to support a conscience clause for health professionals on the issue of abortion," he said.
"Obama--or at least his administration (is there a difference?) plans to revoke the Bush conscience clause, not revise it. That is hardly honoring heterodox thinkers' consciences," Smith added.
Although Obama has yet to overturn the conscience protections Bush put into place for the doctors and physicians Obama said today he seeks to protect, Smith isn't holding his breath that Obama will change course.
"Perhaps the administration will change from the radical course it has steered to date on these important matters. More likely, Obama will continue to say moderate things--to great cheering in the media--while his administration acts immoderately," he says.
Smith says Obama has had the opportunity "to steer a moderate course ... and he rejected the moderate course."
"Which brings to mind another trite old saying; talk is cheap," Smith concluded."
We will believe it when we see it.
