The House of Representatives just voted overwhelmingly to de-fund ACORN, 345-75. The vote came on a Republican motion to recommit the educational loan bill. As a result, the anti-ACORN provision made it into the House-passed bill.

Below are the names of all 75 congressmen who voted to preserve ACORN's stream of funding.

The biggest surprises on the list: Stephen Lynch, D-Mass., and the two Democrats from West Virginia, Alan Mollohan and Nick Rahall.

And who were the 7 Senators that voted against defunding ACORN

ACORN Gets Seven Supporters in the Senate

Jeremy Wiggins

With the passage of the legislation that cuts funding to ACORN, we are left wondering what those seven senators who voted against the cut were thinking. Here is just a little info I scrounged up to make you more informed.

Dick Durbin (D-IL) - Voted against the impeachment of President Bill Clinton. On record saying "It's time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine." In 2005 he compared interrogation techniques being used at Gitmo to be on par with those utilized by Nazi Germany, the Soviets, and Khmer Rouge. Is on the Senate subcommittee on Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development, and Related Agencies. The Cato Institute give him a rating of 17%, and the Christian Coalition gives him a 0%. But on the bright side, all of the big labor unions give him a 100% rating.

Roland Burris (D-IL) - Was awarded seat by disgraced Ex-Governor Rod Blagojevich. Remember Blago? He was the one who was ousted due to a pay to play scandal he was running for Obama's senate seat. Burris donated thousands of dollars to Blago's re-election fund. He is now the kid on capital hill with a cold, everyone knows he came to school, but everyone is avoiding him.

Robert Casey (D-PA) - While on the surface he appears to be a moderate, with his Pro-life voting record. The only hiccup here is when he voted against baring HHS grants to organizations like Planned Parenthood that provide abortion services. Was personally asked to run for office by Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer, after having lost previous bids for a state office five times. Your guess is as good as mine as to why he voted to keep funding ACORN, when several ACORN employees have been arrested and charged with voter registration fraud in his state.

Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) - Was appointed by Governor Paterson of New York to fill the seat left vacant by Hillary Clinton. Originally thought to be a moderate Democrat, she has quickly voted herself into one of the topmost 20 liberal democrats in the Senate. Is a staunch supporter of homosexual rights, even though she has yet to propose or vote in favor of any of those rights. She just talks a big game about it.During the Clinton administration she served as a Special Counsel toe the Secretary of HUD, so that could explain why she voted to keep ACORN funding, due to the groups being closely intertwined.

Patrick Leahy (D-VT) - He is a member of the Appropriations committee, and on the subcommittee on Transportations, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies. The only thing I see here, would be that since he is on this particular subcommittee, he would stand to gain from the contracts that ACORN received from the government in working so close with HUD. Other than that, he's just your average Liberal, who has made appearances in two Batman movies.

Bernie Sanders (I-VT) - Sanders is a self-described democratic socialist. He is the first person elected to the Senate that is identified as a socialist. He is heavily interested in global warming, and with Senator Boxer introduce the Global Warming Pollution Reduction Act of 2007. Wants universal health care, and with the socialist policies of groups like ACORN, it is pretty much a no-brainer on why he voted to keep their funding.

Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) - In 2007, Whitehouse was ranked the second-most liberal senator. Along with Senator Sanders, is also a member of the Committee on Environment and Public Works. Is a supporter of stem-cell research, abortion rights, GLBT rights and gay marriage, and has publicly supported a reintroduction of the Equal Rights Amendment. A liberal like this would strongly support pretty much anything a group like ACORN does.

One commonality we see is that these people are pretty far left leaning liberal, and most of them share key committee positions that a group like ACORN would benefit from. With so many things going on at ACORN, such as voter registration fraud and the new instances in FOUR ACORN offices of helping a couple get government funding to open a brothel, we wonder why they would do it. Well, only time will tell.
