What I found most interesting about the Pew Research survey titled: Press Accuracy Rating Hits Two Decade LowPublic Evaluations of the News Media: 1985-2009 was how each party differed on how positive they viewed this or that network. This seems to be very telling of whether a network leans one way or the other in bias.
Notice Democrats seem to like the coverage on CNN, MSNBC, and the Big Three Networks by wide margins between "favorable" and "unfavorable". In other words all 3 of the above media outlets "unfavorable" ratings by Democrats all fell under 10% which means Democrats would be very happy if all watched these media outlets.
If you compare Republicans "favorable" view amongst those 3 they are down on each very close to 30 points compared to Democrats.
Republicans would be much happier if you were watching Fox News.
Independents would prefer you to be watching CNN and/or Fox News the two are very close.
Notice how Republicans and Independents have within a point the same "favorable" rating on the Big Three Networks and then notice Democrats highest "favorable" ratings of all sources and by 26/27 points above Independents and Republicans. This should say something about the Big Three Networks. Actually, among Independents and Republicans the Big Three got the highest percentage on the "unfavorable" rating then those two groups rated any other media outlet on the chart.
Here is a Values Voter News suggestion to be fair to all sides without government intrusion and politicizing our air waves at tax payers expense. Notice Fox News and CNN are almost opposites between Democrats and Republicans and that Independents accept both as their best. It seems if we the people want congress to act in a cooperative way then we need to have what we decide to view be cooperative viewing ourselves. Maybe out of respect for one another and one anothers' views we should be watching a little bit of what Democrats highly praise at CNN and what Republicans highly praise at Fox News which would satisfy Independents best sources from their polling to get a good cooperative balance and understanding of the issues from all sides. Just some respectfully reasonable thoughts to get some balance in our viewership and actually obtain "fairness" and "balance" in our viewership without politicizing our media.
We sure don't want the government running radio or our news agency in any tampering way at all that would be our only other option. And who is going to trust the news from that agency when one party or the other is in control of the government? I suppose only the people of the party that are in control. Not only that this leads to further politicizing of the media in our country which is the last case scenario we should politicize at our tax payers expense. Bias is going to be everywhere and it is ok to have bias and to understand an issue from a certain bias but if a network is going to claim to be fair then reputable sources from each side should be allowed to give and defend their side on their network in a fair way and if a network is unwilling to do that then it's good for the public to know so that when they are watching this or that network they know they are getting this or that side so that then if they want the other side they can go to another network/program.
Which brings us to the public understood need of watchdog organizations which it seems has an interesting trend of need but continue to be viewed as overall needed by all parties.
Simple as that, no need for government control of our air waves let the people determine their own market not the politically financed few. Let the watchdogs all balance each other out as you have left and right and center watchdogs. Let the people decide and think for themselves and come to their own conclusion thus spreading the control out amongst "We the people..." as opposed to the control being centralized and easily tapped into by "We the rich..." or whoever has enough money to fund the politician that will rule in "We the richest..." best interest. No system is perfect under Heaven and both systems are corruptible by greed. Just because the government seizes more control because of greed at Wall Street doesn't mean greed will not then follow the politician to enable the greedier to even get greedier.
