And then we are to believe our government officials that this new health care reform with a government ran public option will pay for itself. If Social Security and Medicare aren't why should we believe the public option will. If Social Security and Medicare are as successful as many deem then is that success not at a cost of not being able to pay for itself. So then will the public option be as successful as proponents claim unless it isn't able to pay for itself like Social Security and Medicare. Just some thoughts to ponder.
In below video watch the crowd justifiably react to recent town hall meeting congressman's response to this very question. Not to mention that many Americans who were skeptical of the $787 billion stimulus package now have more reason then ever to be skeptical of any other Big Government solution. See The one objective standard President Obama set for himself to measure the success of the stimulus package was -8% unemployment by August. And furthermore, not to mention the Government Sponsored Enterprises in Fannie and Freddie who played a central role in creating the mortgage crisis which created our economic crisis. See: CNNMoney reports that Fannie and Freddie will be the most expensive bailout and for more in detail see label Mortgage Crisis.
Trust must be earned not wasted at the expense of billions of tax payers money that could be more productively used to create jobs with rather than destroy them.
I watched most of this town hall meeting and here are my comments posted at:Video: John Stossel of ABC's 20/20 takes on the Health Insurance Industry and shows how third-party payments are driving up costs:
"Also, watch all of Steny Hoyer's recent town hall meeting here held in a basketball arena. This is great and reminds me of parliament in the UK except that this is the people excited about political issues and engaging in the debate. I thought this meeting was done well and allowed both sides to ask questions. It would have been much better if there was a bi-partisan panel as one of the questioner complained and I agree. Notice those for the ObamaCare liked the program cause they will get the care they need and notice the care must be expensive considering the situations they propose then notice when those who oppose the ObamaCare ask will this raise the deficit or require higher taxes and then notice the answer. Just a little hard to believe and coming from a politician without any bi-partisan independent verification leaves many justifiably skeptical. For a better option see below and for other concerns/options see label Healthcare."
