Joke of the day: Why do ants carry 5 times their own weight?

Found this joke at wnd.com....

The teacher was giving her class of seven-year-olds a natural-history lesson. "Worker ants," she told them, "can carry pieces of food five times their own weight. What do you conclude from that?"

One child was ready with the answer: "They don't have a union."

School choice works in DC at half the cost of public schools so why did Obama discontinue the program?
Two influential labor unions will spend $100 million in 2010 elections to keep our current unpopular congress in office.

Unions are taking over the government making it even bigger at tax payers expense. For the first time there are more union workers working for the government than the private sector.

This is an update to Orin Hatch's questions of Elena on the partial-birth abortion memo from earlier. See Orin Hatch's questioning at Video: Hatch asks questions of Elena Kagan on partial-birth abortion memo under Clinton

Watch Lindsey Graham question Elena Kagan on this issue below comments. I am sure more questioning will come.

For more on this see JillStanek.com who is covering this issue quite well at Scandal: ACOG's collusion with the White House to rewrite objective medical opinion to fit subjective political script and New Stanek WND.com column, "Exposed! Kagan's partial-birth abortion scheme"

Apparently, when Clinton vetoed the partial-birth abortion ban during his presidency Elena Kagan was involved in the wording of a memo from ACOG on partial-birth abortion which delayed the ban of partial birth abortion for some 10 years. I am now quoting from Jill Stanek from links above:

"ACOG used Kagan's language verbatim.

As former Justice Department lawyer Shannen Coffin pointed out in a National Review Online column yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court cited ACOG's opinion when striking Nebraska's partial-birth abortion ban in 2000, and U.S. District Court Judge Richard Kopf also cited it when he, as well as two other judges, enjoined the 2003 federal ban.

So it can be said Elena Kagan was largely responsible for keeping partial-birth abortion on the books 10 years beyond what it would have had the courts ruled based on uncorrupted medical opinion."

$1.4 million American tax dollars are going to study 'Social Milieu' of Male Prostitutes in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi and another $2 million for condom use in Kazakhstan

Unbelievable. It may be a drop in the bucket to billions but Jesus says if we are not faithful in the little things it may be reflective in the big things. Our government is insane to award money for such projects. Then again they have decided to produce a budget for the American people this year see No Budget from Congress for the first time since 1974. Congress to busy spending and regulating they have no time for budgeting..

At least under the Bush administration the budget was being budgeted until the economic crisis see During Bush years budget deficit was being reduced, more jobs were lost after 9/11 than after economic crisis in 2008 and more jobs were being created so why are we blaming Bush tax cuts for our deficit?

Missouri joins Oklahoma in passing a law to allow women to use force to protect their unborn child

Missouri Becomes Second State to Allow Women to Use Force to Protect Unborn

Jefferson City, MO (LifeNews.com) -- Last week, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon signed House Bill 2081 into law -- making the Midwestern state the second in the nation to adopt a new kind of law. The measure ensures a pregnant woman can use deadly force to protect the life of her unborn child.

The new law is based on innovative Americans United for Life model legislation:the “Pregnant Woman’s Protection Act.”

In 2009, Oklahoma became the first state to enact what AUL attorney Denise Burke terms "important and much-needed legislation" -- passing it by unanimous votes in both the House and Senate.

Recognizing what Burke calls a "critical deficiency in state criminal laws," AUL developed the “Pregnant Woman’s Protection Act” that she says would "ensure that women who use force, including deadly force, to protect the lives of their unborn children from criminal attacks are not later themselves subjected to prosecution and incarceration."

"Importantly, the new law extends both legal recognition and legal protection to an unborn child. It also further isolates abortion as the only instance in which such legal recognition and legal protection are not afforded to an unborn child," Burke said of the new Missouri law.

The legislation allows the pregnant woman to use the deadly force when she reasonably believes that such force is necessary to protect her unborn child against death, serious injury or any forcible felony.

House Bill 2081 was sponsored by Rep. Jeanie Riddle, a Republican, in the House and handled in the Senate by Sen. Jack Goodman, also a Republican.

Missouri pro-life advocates are still waiting on Gov. Nixon’s decision regarding signing into law SB 793, Missouri’s revised informed consent law. Under the Missouri Constitution, the governor must make a decision within the next two weeks.

Elena Kagan: Video of opening statements from Elena Kagan and committee members

Got embedded video of Kagan hearing Day 1 below from AvoidtheBias.com at Video: Opening statements by Democrats and Republicans in Elena Kagan's Senate hearing. Today was a big decision day for the Supreme Courts not only have the hearings begun on Elena Kagan but the Supreme Court has released to big decisions today. On the Second Amendment in a 5-4 decision the court ruled that the "right to keep and bear arms" not only applies in DC under federal jurisdiction but applies to all 50 states.

But what has really concerned Values Voter News is the decision to allow Colleges to discriminate against faith based clubs on campuses that even a gay and lesbian group filed a brief in favor of the Christian club. For more on that see Supreme Court rules 5-4 in Christian Legal Society v. Martinez that our colleges can discriminate against clubs on campuses that believe in biblical marriages.

Man with damaged eye sight for 60 years now has near-normal vision thanks to Bush's federally funded athical adult stem cell research.

By ALICIA CHANG (AP) – 3 days ago

LOS ANGELES — Dozens of people who were blinded or otherwise suffered severe eye damage when they were splashed with caustic chemicals had their sight restored with transplants of their own stem cells — a stunning success for the burgeoning cell-therapy field, Italian researchers reported Wednesday.

The treatment worked completely in 82 of 107 eyes and partially in 14 others, with benefits lasting up to a decade so far. One man whose eyes were severely damaged more than 60 years ago now has near-normal vision.

"This is a roaring success," said ophthalmologist Dr. Ivan Schwab of the University of California, Davis, who had no role in the study — the longest and largest of its kind.

Stem cell transplants offer hope to the thousands of people worldwide every year who suffer chemical burns on their corneas from heavy-duty cleansers or other substances at work or at home.

The approach would not help people with damage to the optic nerve or macular degeneration, which involves the retina. Nor would it work in people who are completely blind in both eyes, because doctors need at least some healthy tissue that they can transplant.

In the study, published online by the New England Journal of Medicine, researchers took a small number of stem cells from a patient's healthy eye, multiplied them in the lab and placed them into the burned eye, where they were able to grow new corneal tissue to replace what had been damaged. Since the stem cells are from their own bodies, the patients do not need to take anti-rejection drugs.

Adult stem cells have been used for decades to cure blood cancers such as leukemia and diseases like sickle cell anemia. But fixing a problem like damaged eyes is a relatively new use. Researchers have been studying cell therapy for a host of other diseases, including diabetes and heart failure, with limited success.

Adult stem cells, which are found around the body, are different from embryonic stem cells, which come from human embryos and have stirred ethical concerns because removing the cells requires destroying the embryos.

Currently, people with eye burns can get an artificial cornea, a procedure that carries such complications as infection and glaucoma, or they can receive a transplant using stem cells from a cadaver, but that requires taking drugs to prevent rejection.

The Italian study involved 106 patients treated between 1998 and 2007. Most had extensive damage in one eye, and some had such limited vision that they could only sense light, count fingers or perceive hand motions. Many had been blind for years and had had unsuccessful operations to restore their vision.

The cells were taken from the limbus, the rim around the cornea, the clear window that covers the colored part of the eye. In a normal eye, stem cells in the limbus are like factories, churning out new cells to replace dead corneal cells. When an injury kills off the stem cells, scar tissue forms over the cornea, clouding vision and causing blindness.

In the Italian study, the doctors removed scar tissue over the cornea and glued the laboratory-grown stem cells over the injured eye. In cases where both eyes were damaged by burns, cells were taken from an unaffected part of the limbus.

Researchers followed the patients for an average of three years and some as long as a decade. More than three-quarters regained sight after the transplant. An additional 13 percent were considered a partial success. Though their vision improved, they still had some cloudiness in the cornea.

Patients with superficial damage were able to see within one to two months. Those with more extensive injuries took several months longer.

"They were incredibly happy. Some said it was a miracle," said one of the study leaders, Graziella Pellegrini of the University of Modena's Center for Regenerative Medicine in Italy. "It was not a miracle. It was simply a technique."

The study was partly funded by the Italian government.

Researchers in the United States have been testing a different way to use self-supplied stem cells, but that work is preliminary.

One of the successful transplants in the Italian study involved a man who had severe damage in both eyes as a result of a chemical burn in 1948. Doctors grafted stem cells from a small section of his left eye to both eyes. His vision is now close to normal.

In 2008, there were 2,850 work-related chemical burns to the eyes in the United States, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Schwab of UC Davis said stem cell transplants would not help those blinded by burns in both eyes because doctors need stem cells to do the procedure.

"I don't want to give the false hope that this will answer their prayers," he said.

Dr. Sophie Deng, a cornea expert at the UCLA's Jules Stein Eye Institute, said the biggest advantage was that the Italian doctors were able to expand the number of stem cells in the lab. This technique is less invasive than taking a large tissue sample from the eye and lowers the chance of an eye injury.

"The key is whether you can find a good stem cell population and expand it," she said.

Supreme Court rules 5-4 in Christian Legal Society v. Martinez that our colleges can discriminate against clubs on campuses that believe in biblical marriages

Update: Click here for a gay and lesbian group who filed a brief in support of the Christian club. This made for an interesting twist cause they see how this can effect their club.

One more piece of evidence that those on the left on the issue of homosexuality are intolerant of those who believe marriage as between a man and a woman. Now our colleges can discriminate against those who believe in traditional family values. The Supreme Court has ruled that a College can deny registration to a club that has such views and requires members to hold to the views of that club. Unbelievable.

For everything you will need to know about this case see Can a religious student organization be denied recognition because that group requires officers and members to agree with its religious viewpoints? from AvoidtheBias.com. Here is the actual 5-4 decision at SupremeCourt.gov.

Below is a video report on this issue before the case was decided today.

Judge Alito in his dissenting opinion wrote this:

"The events that gave rise to this litigation began in 2004, when a small group of Hastings students sought to register a Hastings chapter of CLS, a national organization of Christian lawyers and law students. All CLS members must sign a Statement of Faith affirming belief in fundamental Christian doctrines, including the beliefthat the Bible is “the inspired Word of God.” App. 226. In early 2004, the national organization adopted a resolutionstating that “[i]n view of the clear dictates of Scripture, unrepentant participation in or advocacy of a sexually immoral lifestyle is inconsistent with an affirmation of the Statement of Faith, and consequently may be regarded by CLS as disqualifying such an individual from CLS membership.” Id., at 146. The resolution made it clear that “a sexually immoral lifestyle,” in CLS’s view, includes engaging in “acts of sexual conduct outside of God’s design for marriage between one man and one woman.” Ibid. It was shortly after this resolution was passed that the Hastings chapter of CLS applied to register with the law school.
Hastings sponsors an active program of “registered student organizations” (RSOs) pursuant to the law school’s avowed responsibility to “ensure an opportunity for the expression of a variety of viewpoints” and promote “the highest standards of . . . freedom of expression,"....When CLS refused to change its membership requirements, Hastings denied its request for registration—thus making CLS the only student group whose application for registration has ever been rejected."

Do you not see the hypocrisy and double standard here? Apparently, this college and now the very Supreme Court has ruled that it is ok for colleges to discriminate against people of faith if they express and defend that faith. Unbelievable!!!

William Bradford, our Pilgrim Fathers and where the Pilgrims got the name Pilgrim from.

The second governor of the Pilgrims at Plymouth Plantation was William Bradford and he wrote an account of the Pilgrims voyage from England to Holland to Plymouth and then to America simply titled "Of Plymouth Plantation" which you kind find various editions free online . I have been reading this account to our children to sleep each night as they have become somewhat curious about the Pilgrims and Squanto and what not as of late.

I thought I would post a diary of findings from the book that I found of interest and log them here under label American Remembrance. Here is my first interesting find.

The very first and only mention of the description of the Pilgrims as Pilgrims in Bradford's account is in Chapter 7 as they were leaving from Holland to then eventually leave from Plymouth to America. They had stayed in Holland some 12 years and here is what Bradford : "So they left that goodly and pleasant city which had been their resting place near twelve years; but they knew they were pilgrims, and looked not much on those things, but lift up their eyes to the heavens, their dearest country, and quieted their spirits."

This reference as Pilgrims comes from Hebrews 11:13-16 and notice the similarity: "These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city." In fact the Mayflower company later was called the Pilgrim Fathers. Remember they came over in the famous Mayflower ship.

Clearly the scriptures highly motivated these Our Pilgrim Fathers. May they be our source of comfort and encouragement as we endeavor on life's adventures.

PRINCIPLE RESULTS: Multivariate analysis found that those women who breastfed for > or =24 months during lifetime had significantly lower risk of breast cancer than those who breastfed for less than 24 months (OR=0.40; 95%CI=0.22, 0.73). Compared to 0-11 months of lifetime breastfeeding, there was a 66.3% reduction in breast cancer risk in women who breastfed for 12-23 months, 87.4% reduction in 24-35 months and 94% reduction in 36-47 months categories. The mean duration of breastfeeding per child for > or =12 months was also associated with reduced risk of breast cancer (OR=0.52; 95%CI=0.28, 0.94). The significant factors associated with increased risk of breast cancer were: post-menopausal women (OR=1.74; 95%CI=1.01, 3.01); having an abortion in the past (OR=3.42; 95%CI=1.75, 6.66) and exposure to passive smoking (OR=2.96, 95%CI=1.53, 5.75).

I do not know how to read those figures, however, it appears that the "significant factors of increased risks shows "having and abortion in the past" as more than even "exposure to passive smoking".

Another Study out of Canada concerning costly premature births strongly linked abortion to these births. In LifeSiteNews.com article titled Canadian Study Finds Strong Link Between Abortion and Premature Birth:

A new study out of McGill University in Montreal has found a strong link between a past abortion and premature delivery in subsequent pregnancies.

Dr. Ghislain Hardy, a third year resident in obstetrics and gynecology at McGill, and his team did a chart review of 17,916 women who delivered at Royal Victoria Hospital, McGill’s teaching hospital.  Of their sample, 13% had obtained one abortion and 5% had procured two or more.

Dr. Hardy’s team found that women with one past abortion were 45% more likely to give birth before 32 weeks, 71% more likely to do so at less than 28 weeks, and more than 50% more likely at less than 26 weeks.  They noted that the link was even greater where the woman had more than one abortion.

Parents in Iowa not happy with Planned Parenthood's sex ed and liberal sexual values be encouraged on their children

LifeSiteNews.com reports from Iowa...All at tax payer's expense. Unbelievable. Welcome to liberal tax payer funded education. It's our taxes and we should have the choice as to which schools our children will be subjected to.

Parents Outraged at Planned Parenthood Class Teaching Sexual Positions

By Kathleen Gilbert

SHENANDOAH, Iowa, June 24, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Parents in Southwest Iowa have reacted in horror after learning that Planned Parenthood's co-ed sex education course not only used pornographic teaching materials but also taught children sexual positions.

Colleen Dostal told Fox News Radio, after discovering that her 14-year-old son had been taught sexual positions using stuffed animals meant to represent STDs, that the class was "horribly inappropriate."

“I do not understand why any adult with a classroom of children would show them sexual positions,” she told Fox.

Dostal said the class also included directions on performing female exams and used an anatomically correct model of a male sex organ to explain how to use a condom.

The parents said the school's principal was "mortified" when told the content of the class and apologized. Several other parents complained to school superintendent Dick Profit. Profit, however, claimed he had received equal numbers of calls supporting and opposing the explicit sex-ed, according to the World Herald.

Speaking for Planned Parenthood, Jennifer Horner defended the curriculum as giving children "accurate" information.

"We are not trying to keep any of this a secret. All information we use is medically accurate and science based," she said.

Planned Parenthood's extremely explicit take on teen sex-ed is evident from the "Teen Talk" section of their website, a series of pages decorated with images of heterosexual and homosexual intimacy, which leads youngsters to a wealth of information on deviant sexual practices.

One page entitled "All about the anus: how much do you really know about your anus?" gives explicit details on anal penetration as a source of sexual pleasure and "as a way to preserve the woman's virginity." While noting that anal penetration "is, of course, high risk for HIV," PP advocates using condoms or "Sheer Glyde dams" to protect against the fatal virus.

Elsewhere, Planned Parenthood dedicates a web page to advocating masturbation as "safe and healthy, and it's here to stay." The article hails the painkilling and stress-relieving qualities of masturbation, and assures that it's "fine" to do so several times a day.

First was reported at Values Voter News Two Abortion clinics close this month so far: one in Vermont and the other in Alabama and now yet another stops performing abortions on women in North Carolina.

40 Days for Life has this encouraging post titled BREAKING: Abortions cease at facility!

"Ever since 40 Days for Life developed into a national — and then international — movement, beginning back in 2007, we have been blessed to see:
  • More than 2,800 lives saved from abortion …
  • 38 abortion workers who have experienced conversions and left the abortion industry …
  • And FIVE abortion centers have gone out of business following 40 Days for Life campaigns outside their doors.
Well, we just got breaking news from Raleigh, North Carolina, that the "National Women’s Health" abortion center — where 40 Days for Life campaigns have been conducted — will no longer do abortions after this coming Saturday!"

Supreme Court to overturn Roe vs. Wade predicts noted liberal scholar and former Solicitor General Walter Dellinger

Politico hosted a recent hour long debate between liberal leaning Center for American Progress and conservative leaning American Action Forum on the future of the judiciary in America which has been embedded at AvoidtheBias.com here. Politico reported on a portion of that debate here.

Former acting Solicitor General Walter Dellinger predicted Tuesday night that the Supreme Court will overturn Roe vs. Wade, the landmark decision that gives women abortion rights.
The noted liberal scholar said the 1973 decision has become a “trophy” that the court’s conservative bloc could overturn if a Republican president chooses a replacement for Justice Anthony Kennedy.
“I absolutely believe it,” Dellinger said during a forum cosponsored by POLITICO.

Below is testimony of the very Roe of Roe v Wade that legalized abortion in 1973 in America. The testimony below is in 2005 after Roe had found forgiveness in Christ for her sins. Click here for link of testimony at Senate.gov.

Testimony of

Norma McCorvey

(The former Jane Roe of Roe v. Wade)

June 23, 2005

TESTIMONY OF NORMA MCCORVEY, THE FORMER ROE OF ROE v. WADE, BEFORE THE SUBCOMMITTEE ON THE CONSTITUTION OF THE SENATE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE
JUNE 23, 2005
I am the woman once known as the Jane Roe of Roe v. Wade. But I dislike the name Jane Roe and all that it stands for. I am a real person named Norma McCorvey and I want you to know the horrible and evil things that Roe v. Wade did to me and others. I never got the opportunity to speak for myself in my own court case. I am not a trained spokesperson, nor a judge, but I am a real person – a living human being who was supposed to be helped by my lawyers and the courts in Roe v. Wade. But instead, I believe that I was used and abused by the court system in America. Instead of helping women in Roe v. Wade, I brought destruction to me and millions of women throughout the nation. In 1970, I was pregnant for the third time. I was not married and I truly did not know what to do with this pregnancy. I had already put one child up for adoption and it was difficult to place a child for adoption because of the natural bond that occurs between a woman and her child. And after all, a woman becomes a mother as soon as she is pregnant, not when the child is born. And women are now speaking out about their harmful experiences from legal abortion.
1
Instead of getting me financial or vocational help, instead of helping me to get off of drugs and alcohol, instead of working for open adoption or giving me other help, my lawyers wanted to eliminate the right of society to protect women and children from abortionists. My lawyers were looking for a young, white woman to be a guinea pig for a great new social experiment, somewhat like Adolf Hitler did. I wanted an abortion at the time, but my lawyers did not tell me that I would be killing a human being. My lawyers did not inform me about the life-changing consequences of this decision. I was living on the streets. And while I was confused and conflicted about the decision for many years, and while I was once an advocate for abortion, like many women who choose to participate in abortion, my lawyers did not tell me that I would later come to deeply regret that I was partially responsible for killing 40-50 million human beings. Do you have any idea how much emotional grief I have experienced? It is like a living hell knowing that you have had a part to play, though in some sense I was just a pawn of the legal system. But I have had to accept my role in the deaths of millions of babies and the destruction of women's lives. I will tell you later how I have tried to cope with that. How did I come to the position where I am today?
2
Abortion is a shameful and secret thing. I wanted to justify my desire for an abortion in my own mind, as almost every woman who participates in the killing of her own child must also do. I made up the story that I had been raped to help justify my abortion. Why would I make up a lie to justify my conduct? Abortion itself is a lie and it is based on lies. My lawyers didn't tell me that abortion would be used for sex selection, but later when I was a pro-choice advocate and worked in abortion clinics, I found women who were using abortion as a means of gender selection. My lawyers didn't tell me that future children would be getting abortions and losing their innocence. Yet I saw young girls getting abortions who were never the same. In 1973, when I learned about the Roe v. Wade decision from the newspapers, not my lawyers, I didn't feel real elated. After all, the decision didn't help me at all. I never had an abortion. I gave my baby up for adoption since the baby was born before the legal case was over. I am glad today that that child is alive and that I did not elect to abort. I was actually silent about my role in abortion for many years and did not speak out at all. Then, in the 1980's, in order to justify my own conduct, with many conflicting emotions, I did come forward publicly to support Roe v. Wade. Keep in mind that I had not had an abortion and did not know much about it at the time.
3
Then around 1992, I began to work in abortion clinics. Like most Americans, including many of you Senators, I had no actual experience with abortion until that point. When I began to work in the abortion clinics, I became even more emotionally confused and conflicted between what my conscience knew to be evil, and what the judges, my mind and my need for money were telling me was OK. I saw women crying in the recovery rooms. If abortion is so right, why were the women crying? Even Senator Hillary Clinton on January 25, 2005 was reported by the New York Times to finally admit "that abortion is a sad, even tragic choice for many, many women." Actually it is a tragic choice for every child that is killed and every woman and man who participates in killing their own child, whether they know it at the time or not. Many women will be in denial and even pro-choice for years like I was. But participating in the murder of your own child will eat away at your conscience forever if you do not take steps to cleanse your conscience, which I will discuss later. I saw the baby parts, which are a horrible sight to see, but I urge everyone who supports abortion to look at the bodies to face the truth of what they support. I saw filthy conditions in abortions clinics even when "Roe" was supposed to clean up "back alley" abortions. I saw the low regard for women from abortion doctors. My conscience was bothering me more and more, causing me to drink more and more and more. If you are trapped in
4
wrongdoing then all you can do is justify and defend your actions, but the pain gets worse and worse, so I drank a lot to kill the pain. Finally, in 1995, a pro-life organization moved its offices right next door to the abortion clinic where I was working. I acted hatefully towards those people. But those people acted lovingly to me most of the time. One man did angrily accuse me at one point of being responsible for killing 40 million babies, but he later came to me and apologized for his words and said they were not motivated by love. The answer to the abortion problem is forgiveness, repentance, and love. Many of the women who abort their babies ask the little babies to forgive them. Even some abortionists encourage women to write cards explaining their behavior and asking the child's forgiveness. This is an old Japanese custom also. The web is filled with post-abortion recovery and grief sites. According to an amicus brief filed in my case, 100,000 women a year enter abortion recovery counseling programs. Abortion is not a simple medical procedure that is safer than childbirth, it is the killing of a human being. It produces severe psychological and emotional consequences. We can ask the children to forgive us, but the children are dead. They say – Alone, I was born. Alone, I shall die. We must also ask Almighty God to forgive us for what we have done. We must repent of our action as a nation in allowing this holocaust to come to our shores. We have to turn from our wicked ways. Senators, I urge you to examine your own conscience before
5
Almighty God. God is willing and able to forgive you. He sent His own son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for my sins as Roe of Roe v. Wade, and for our sins in failing to act to end abortion and to truly help women in crisis pregnancies. I finally asked the Lord Jesus to forgive me in 1995 and immediately dedicated my life to saving children's and women's lives. In the year 2000, I met the lawyers from The Justice Foundation, Allan Parker and Clayton Trotter who are here behind me. I asked them to help me to reverse Roe v. Wade legally. We began collecting evidence from women about the devastating consequences of abortion in their lives. Women are very reluctant to speak about this horrible act which is a crime against humanity. In many cases the denial goes on for decades before they break. Women who have had an abortion often can't even tell their husbands, parents, family, friends or even their physicians or clergy. It is like a time bomb in the heart of every woman who's had an abortion. Eventually we collected almost 1,500 affidavits and filed a motion to reverse Roe v. Wade. As part of my statement to you today, I am enclosing summaries of those women's affidavits along with pictures of some of the women so you can see what abortion does to real women. I am also going to file copies of all the affidavits collected. Also behind me today are some of those witnesses whose affidavits were before the Supreme Court and I would like to ask them to stand at this time.
6
These women hurt by abortion have formed a movement they call Operation Outcry to cry out to you, to the courts and to God Almighty to end this scourge of abortion in our nation. The Rev. Martin Luther King and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference helped lead America non-violently to end the scourge of segregation. When slavery was constitutional, we treated one class of humans as property. We are treating the humans in the mother's womb as property and less than human when we say it is OK to kill them. How can we have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, when we have death by abortion? I have also included an essay on the Scott Peterson double-murder conviction which asks how one baby is a person that can be murdered but not another. On February 22, 2005, the Supreme Court declined to take my case. I was good enough for the courts when they wanted to impose abortion on America, but I wasn't good enough when I asked them to look at the hard evidence of what they have done to America. The Supreme Court of the United States should be ashamed of itself. It has taken this matter of abortion away from the states, the people, and the legislatures, but it refuses to look at the evidence of what it has done. How shameful is that? How can we have liberty without life? Every member of the Supreme Court who supports Roe should be impeached and I believe we should to limit the terms of Supreme Court justices to 8 years. The
7
Supreme Court has hurt me and millions of women and children. I urge you to do everything in your power to reverse Roe v. Wade. Since the Supreme Court did not reject our arguments, we are continuing to bring those arguments before the court in case after case after case, including Sandra Cano's case which is in the courts now. Please do not ask a judicial nominee to pledge to maintain Roe v. Wade. If new evidence comes before the court, then the court should be willing change its old precedent, as it has many times. Roe v. Wade is not in the Constitution. It is just a bad Supreme Court decision with bad effects and needs to be reversed. I also support a constitutional amendment to protect all human life. I am also attaching a copy of my 13-page affidavit which was filed in our lawsuit to reverse Roe v. Wade. Some things should never be allowed, even if we want to do them. Murder is one, child abuse is another and allowing abortionists to harm women is another. Thank you, Senators.

Dallas is the fastest growing city in the US. Houston has grown at five times the rate of Boston, New York and San Francisco. Texas has created 70% of the jobs in the US since 2008.

Below is article via NCPA concerning Dallas, Texas as the fastest growing city in the US according to CNN Money. But first some comments.

Pro-business policies and limited government = Jobs and more freedom for the American family and a better product. In May Values Voter News had this post on Houston titled Houston vs San Francisco: on taxing the rich and big government.. Texas Economy: Texas has created 70% of all US jobs since 2008. Governor Christie in New Jersey is trying to change what has stifled economic growth in New Jersey by not taxing the rich or those who have the capital to invest in the creation of jobs via a product the people want see Video: Governor Christie vetoes tax hikes in New Jersey and explains why after arguments have been made.. Much Capital is needed to create jobs. If everyone were to just to make $1 more than they needed to support their family and live comfortably their would be no capital to invest in future job creation to benefit others that was foundational to their own job that supports their family to have that one more dollar. The rich have the capital for others to borrow to invest in the next business that will create the jobs and products demanded by the market for the following generations. The more the government grows via taxing that capital the less the opportunity for economic growth. And with a government that is trillions in debt the capital is not only being chipped away at via taxation but as the dollar weakens it is being chipped away at via inflation. Economic growth means jobs for the American family. Remember Bill Gates did not have the money to start Microsoft with rather he had to rely on the capital of others. And now today Microsoft has provided thousands of families a job and many benefits without forced taxation but rather via the market being the will of the American people and the American people got a product for it. Not only that but it was done without inflating the dollar but strengthening it and without taxing the capital needed to invest in the company in the first place.

Also, see Profits go to those who best please the people as they should unfortunately Big Government has it the other way around. Consider Matthew 25:14-30 and that being profitable is not evil in and of itself but wasting profit is. Look at our Government's $13 trillion dollar profit killing deficit. Profitability can be as much as be a sign of being faithful with what one has as much as greed and being unprofitable doesn't always equal virtue but may actually be a sign of not being faithful stewards of profit and a sign of greed in a twisted way itself. Also, see Hollywood and liberal media attack those who create the capital to create jobs with and Was Jesus a capitalist? and Capitalism and the Scripture and Public sector workers enjoy better pay as well as better pensions, shorter hours and eariler retirement than private sector all at tax payers expense in the UK

Now finally to the article...

DALLAS: FASTEST GROWING U.S. CITY

The booming Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area added more residents during the past decade than any other city in the United States, according to CNNMoney.com.

According to the latest Census Bureau figures released Tuesday:

  • The population of the sprawling Texas metro area grew by about 1.3 million people, or 25 percent, between April 1, 2000, and July 1, 2009.
  • The population is now estimated at 6.5 million residents, but an exact count won't be available until the 2010 census is complete.
Dallas's attractions include a very favorable business climate, according to Mayor Tom Leppert.  There's no corporate income tax, building costs are relatively reasonable and regulations are minimal.

"It's a great place to do business," he said, "especially for companies from high-tax states."

Helping to drive growth is the area's main airport, Dallas/Fort Worth International, the third busiest in the nation.  Its location is far enough south to ensure good weather yet central enough to make it easy to fly to the Northeast, the Midwest and the Pacific Coast.  It is also well positioned for air traffic with Latin American markets.

"Dallas has no port," said Leppert.  "The airport became a 21st century port."
