New Study Linking Childhood Abuse, Homosexuality Causing Uproar

Posted by CitizenLink Staff

A recent study and survey, linking childhood abuse and homosexuality, have the medical community – and gay activists – in an uproar.

Researchers from the University of Otago found that homosexual identity and tendencies are linked to a higher likelihood of negative childhood experiences.

However, psychologist Dr. Bill Maier said it’s important to understand that the research is correlation, not causation.

“The research doesn’t tell us if sexual abuse contributes to homosexual orientation or if a child, who displays a-typical gender behavior, is more likely to be abused,” Maier said.

Maier notes that less than one percent of the 13,000 people surveyed identified themselves as homosexuals, while nearly two percent reported they had been in a same-sex relationship.

He also said while some who identify as homosexual experienced abuse during childhood, the issue is complicated.

“It’s likely due to a variety of social, biological, cultural, environmental factors – all interacting together,” he said.

Governor Christie vetoes $7.5 million to Planned Parenthood...

As read article below watch Christie on ABC and Also, see Video: You just gotta love Governor Christie of New Jersey. Quite the different politician

Gov. Christie Vetoes Millions to Planned Parenthood

By Peter J. Smith

TRENTON, New Jersey, July 26, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – As New Jersey’s Republican Governor Chris Christie continues to fulfill a campaign pledge to restore state government to fiscal sanity, he has vetoed a bill that would have dedicated $7.5 million in state to “family planning” clinics, most of which are run by Planned Parenthood.

New Jersey’s Star Ledger reported that Christie in his veto message said that “the state simply cannot fund every worthy program” and would not restore $7.5 million for family planning clinics that he had cut from the state’s budget for fiscal year 2011.

Marie Tasy, executive director of New Jersey Right to Life, praised Christie for standing by his decision to cut funds for Planned Parenthood.

“The taxpayers of New Jersey are under no obligation to fund the radical and failed social agenda of Planned Parenthood,’’ said Marie Tasy, according to the Star-Ledger. “We commend Governor Christie for his steadfast opposition to restoring these funds.”

Christie issued the veto along with vetoes of two bills that would have established a $100 million tax credit program for new homebuyers, and redirected government funds to enroll 39,000 low-income individuals in the state’s subsidized health insurance program.

"State spending has been reset to levels the taxpayers can afford,” said Christie in a stern message to the legislature. “Supplemental spending that would return to the unchecked spending and out of control budget shortfalls of the past will not make it past the Governor's desk."

Reports indicate that the Democrat-controlled Legislature may seek to mount a veto-override.

Another abortion clinic closes in Arkansas...

And yet another abortion clinic closes. Last month Values Voter News reported on 3 abortion clinics closing in Vermont, North Carolina and Alabama. See Abortion clinic in North Carolina will stop performing abortions!!! This is the third recent closing in about a month. and Two Abortion clinics close this month so far: one in Vermont and the other in Alabama. Now 40 Days for Life reports on yet another in Arkansas.

Picture is from below post at 40 Days for Life. Click on link for more pictures.

ANOTHER abortion center closing

Things have been quite frenzied this week — receiving record numbers of applications for this fall’s 40 Days for Life campaign — but I had to share amazing news that, with God’s grace, could be repeated in YOUR community.

I just received word from our local 40 Days for Life campaign leaders in Fayetteville, Arkansas — and got confirmation from their local media — that their city’s one and only surgical abortion facility is CLOSING!

Praise God!

During three previous 40 Days for Life campaigns in Fayetteville, the abortionist grew more and more aggressive towards the prayer volunteers, taunting and ridiculing them in person — and in the media …
but they did not react; they persisted in peaceful vigil and remained to pray for the unborn, the women entering the facility — and especially for the abortionist himself.

And NOW … that facility is closing down!...."

Watch out for these 7 deceptive mainstream media techniqes

Found this article at Townhall.com and Values Voter News totally agrees. Just going to repost whole article here. For long trail of documented evidence of the article below see label Liberal Media Bias and Party ID.

Seven Deceptive Mainstream Media Techniques

Just a few decades ago journalism in this country was actually about reporting the facts. Yes, journalists may have leaned to the Left, but at least reporters made an effort to be fair. Today, journalists are more interested in "making a difference" than in any antiquated standards and they play by PRAVDA rules. Every news story is filtered through an ideological prism and instead of asking who, what, when, how, and why, the stories are framed around a simple rule: How can we hurt the Right and help the Left?

Granted, there are a handful of exceptions like the late, great Tim Russert. ABC's Jake Tapper may also lean to the Left, but he at least seems to make an effort to be impartial. That being said, objective journalism is for all intents and purposes now dead in the United States. What that means is that you not only have to pay attention to the story the mainstream media's giving you, but you've also got to try to figure out how they're spinning the story. If you don't understand the story AND the slant, you don't understand the story. So, with that in mind, here are just some of the mainstream media's favorite tricks.

1) Leaving out context. The enormous amount of attention the Shirley Sherrod story has gotten is ironic, in that the story is that a liberal's comments were taken out of context the same way conservative comments are taken out of context every day of the week. As a matter of habit, the conservative side of the story is under-represented, buried, or even completely left out of most articles in the mainstream media. That's why there is a vast and thriving new media on the Right: because the mainstream media only provides half of the story and people have to go elsewhere to get the whole truth.

2) Sloppy errors that hurt conservatives. Nine times out of ten, if a mainstream media outlet gets a story wrong, it will either help liberals or hurt conservatives. Very seldom will you see an "honest mistake" that makes a liberal look bad. That's because they'll double and triple check anything that hurts their own side. When it comes to conservatives, fact checking isn't a big concern for most mainstream media outlets -- and good luck getting a correction. If you do, it'll be grudging and given a few weeks after the article comes out. By then, dozens of liberal bloggers will have repeated the story -- and they seldom let the facts get in the way of a good slam on conservatives.

3) The label game. A Republican who does something wrong is almost always clearly labeled as a Republican, while surprisingly often, a Democrat's party affiliation is mysteriously left out of stories that make the party look bad. You'll notice the same trend with think tanks. A conservative think tank is labeled as such. A liberal think tank is just a think tank. This game is even played with dead politicians. Would you know that George Wallace or Bull Connor were Democrats or that Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in a higher percentage than Democrats? Not if you relied on the mainstream media to impart that information to you.

4) Painting the fringes as the mainstream. There's nothing wrong with covering birthers, morons with racist signs at Tea Parties, or losers like David Duke. However, it is a problem when those people are painted as being part of the mainstream of the conservative movement.

It's also hard to miss the fact that the mainstream media doesn't do the same thing with the Left. They don't show the public outrageous signs from anti-war rallies or the pro-illegal immigration protests and try to claim that those are widely expressed sentiments. How about the idea that Bush was behind 9/11 or at least knew about it and allowed it to happen? That was -- and still is -- a very popular conspiracy theory on the Left. Why isn't that nutball theory or the even more popular "We invaded Iraq for oil" wack-a-doodle head spinner an indictment of the Left the way conservatives are supposedly tainted by birtherism or some guy showing up with a racist sign at a Tea Party is supposed to be?

5) The front page or the back page. Have an embarrassing story about a conservative? That's front page material and if it's a half way decent story, it may be good for a week's worth of stories. Get a similarly embarrassing story about a liberal? Welcome to a brief article on page A-18 -- and that's if they run it at all. This is a powerful technique that can turn an extremely minor story like Cindy Sheehan protesting George Bush or waterboarding terrorists at Gitmo into a big, hairy deal. On the other hand, if Bill Clinton , but the mainstream media refuses to cover it, do people even know that it happened?

6) The slant. Barack Obama has been roughed up a little bit by the media over the oil spill. But, how does it compare to the sort of coverage Bush got in the aftermath of Katrina? Even when the economy was doing well under Bush we got a steady diet of "Woe is me" stories about the unemployed. So, what happened when unemployment numbers skyrocketed after Obama got into office? Then Americans were introduced to the joys of "funemployment!" When Democrats win office, the American people "have spoken." When Republicans win, the American people are "throwing a tantrum." When Democrats disagree with the party in charge, they're speaking "the truth to power." But, when Republicans do the same thing, they’re seditious, potentially dangerous, mean spirited ogres from the "party of no.”

7) The lap dog "conservative" voice. It's bad enough that the mainstream media is completely dominated by liberals and that conservatives are barely allowed to get a word in edgewise. But to add insult to injury, far too often, after letting liberals have their say, the media then trots out widely despised mediocrities like David Frum, Kathleen Parker, Meghan McCain, Christopher Buckley, and David Brooks who they know will echo the liberal line. In other words, people get to hear the liberal point of view and then they get to hear the liberal point of view again, this time from a supposed "conservative." This is the Left's idea of "fair and balanced."

Professor is awarded $100,000 settlement after school fires her over sexual orientation

As you read below watch video of another case that is current and disturbing with Stossel.

Values Voter News reported on this case back in January of 2008 at 54 First Amendment victories since June of 08 and many other pending cases.... Here is a link an attorney discussing the issue on KPDQ. To the left is a most excellent documentary of other like cases of conservative points of view being discriminated against on our college campuses and universities at our tax dollars expense. Also see Universities claim to be open minded and diverse but when it comes to commencement addresses why are only liberals invited.

Below article from Fire who is featured in above video...

Victory for Academic Freedom: 'Human Heredity' Professor Receives $100,000 Settlement

SAN JOSÉ, Calif., July 26, 2010—Nearly three years after terminating her over her protected classroom speech, the San José/Evergreen Community College District (SJCCD) has agreed to pay adjunct professor June Sheldon $100,000 in lost earnings in exchange for dismissal of her First Amendment lawsuit. In 2007, Sheldon had led a brief discussion about the nature/nurture debate regarding sexual orientation in her Human Heredity course. After she was fired due to a student complaint, she turned to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) for help.

"This welcome settlement demonstrates that colleges cannot get away with punishing a professor for teaching relevant class material, even if a student finds it offensive," said FIRE President Greg Lukianoff. "Professor Sheldon is finally able to put this ordeal behind her, but the district's ignorance of academic freedom and the First Amendment has left the taxpayers of California on the hook for over $100,000."

Sheldon's trouble began in the summer of 2007 when, in her Human Heredity course at San José City College, she led a brief discussion on sexual orientation. The topic was covered in the course readings.
When a student asked her to comment on the nature/nurture debate regarding sexual orientation, Sheldon noted the complexity of the issue, citing examples from the textbook as well as relevant research findings. A student complained a month later that the material was "offensive and unscientific."

Dean of Mathematics and Science Leandra Martin then launched an investigation into Sheldon's comments by surveying other science faculty about the state of the nature/nurture debate among experts. All of the faculty members agreed that the nature/nurture question was complex, but Martin still concluded that Sheldon was teaching non-scientific material as science. Martin then withdrew the district's offer for her to teach further courses. On December 18, 2007, SJCCD Vice Chancellor of Human Resources Anita Morris wrote Sheldon a termination letter, citing Sheldon's relevant and protected classroom expression.

In a statement she submitted in her defense, Sheldon addressed the student's allegations and demonstrated the failures of due process in her case FIRE wrote to then-SJCCD Board of Trustees President Richard K. Tanaka on February 6, 2008, asking that the finding and punishment against Sheldon be reversed. The Board did not respond but upheld the termination at a subsequent hearing. On July 16, 2008, the Alliance Defense Fund and attorneys from the Pacific Justice Institute filed a lawsuit against the district and several administrators involved in Sheldon's case. Her case cleared an important legal hurdle in November 2009, when a federal district court dismissed the district's claim that Sheldon had no First Amendment rights in the classroom, rejecting the district's application of the Supreme Court's 2006 decision in Garcetti v. Ceballos to her case.

Finally, last week, on July 21, 2010, the district agreed to compensate Sheldon $100,000 in lost wages and to remove her termination from her file. The district also has left taxpayers to pay its legal fees. It has not, however, acknowledged its violation of Sheldon's rights.

"The district had better things to spend its money on than fighting a First Amendment lawsuit against a professor who was just doing her job," said Adam Kissel, Director of FIRE's Individual Rights Defense Program. "Unfortunately, SJCCD has given us no reason to believe it has learned its lesson. FIRE will continue to monitor free speech and academic freedom in the district and nationwide."
FIRE recently has intervened in a similar academic freedom case in Illinois, where University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign adjunct professor Kenneth Howell was not rehired after a student complained regarding his teaching about the Catholic position on sexual conduct in his Introduction to Catholicism course.

FIRE is a nonprofit educational foundation that unites civil rights and civil liberties leaders, scholars, journalists, and public intellectuals from across the political and ideological spectrum on behalf of individual rights, due process, freedom of expression, academic freedom, and rights of conscience at our nation's colleges and universities. FIRE's efforts to preserve liberty in the San José/Evergreen Community College District and at campuses nationwide can be viewed at thefire.org.

FactCheck.org agrees with pro-life groups that ObamaCare in Pennsylvania would have funded abortions via tax payers and deceptively so....

LifeNews.com has below article reporting on FactCheck.org agreeing with pro-life groups that three states approved tax payer funding of abortion under ObamaCare. However, as noted below the Obama Administration backed down after National Right to Life publicly exposed the funding. But notice that FactCheck.org said "It would be easy to miss the fact that Pennsylvania’s official solicitation called for coverage of all state-legal abortions. The press release issued by the state insurance department on June 28, announcing the new program, made no mention of abortion at all," it says. "Intrepid readers could click through to find the official solicitation document describing the program more fully, but it contained phrasing the casual reader could interpret as restricting abortion coverage rather than permitting it."

Way to go National Right to Life. Your Right once again. See FactCheck.org and Time Magazine finally confirm that health care reform would mark significant change in tax payer funded abortions and Factcheck.org confirms Obama misrepresented his position for 4 years on the Born Alive Infant Protection Act in Illinois!

FactCheck Confirms Pro-Life Group Right on Obama Admin Funding Abortions

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new report issued by the respected FactCheck.org web site based at the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania confirms the claims made last week by the National Right to Life Committee that the Obama administration had authorized abortion funding in three states.

The abortion funding would have come under the new health care plan President Barack Obama signed, except the Obama administration backed down after NRLC blew the whistle.

"We can see what caused abortion opponents to be concerned," the web site verified.

An official solicitation issued by the Pennsylvania Insurance Department specified that abortions "will" be covered if they are legal under Pennsylvania law, it explained. And according to news reports, a similar document in New Mexico listed "elective" abortions under "covered services."

FactCheck explains that the abortion funding was hidden by vague and undefined terms.

"It would be easy to miss the fact that Pennsylvania’s official solicitation called for coverage of all state-legal abortions.

FactCheck notes what NRLC said at the time: namely that "Pennsylvania officials said the benefit package will include the following core of specific services …" followed by a long list that includes, on page 14, "only abortions and contraceptives that satisfy the requirements of 18 Pa.C.S. § 3204-3206 and 35 P.S. §§10101, 10103-10105."

"Those are the sections of Pennsylvania law that cover abortion. So — when all the verbal smoke is cleared away — the solicitation states that the program "will" cover "only" abortions that are legal. That doesn't leave out much," it continues.

FactCheck points out that the Pennsylvania program allowed abortions that a physician deems "necessary … in the light of all factors (physical, emotional, psychological, familial and the woman’s age) relevant to the well-being of the woman."

The only abortions that the state law forbids a doctor from finding "necessary" are those "sought solely because of the sex of the unborn child," it said.

Pennsylvania officials have since said that in the haste to meet a deadline, "placeholder" language was inserted, to be adjusted later.

Although FactCheck concludes abortions will no longer be funded in the three states -- relying on the promise from the Obama administration and state officials that it won't happen - the web site clearly confirms abortion funding did exist before NRLC blew the whistle.

Andrea Bocelli tells of his mother choosing life for him in spite of Doctors advice to abort him because he will be disabled in some way as moms head to Congress to testify with Babies in hands

Below quick testimony of Andrea Bocelli of his mother you will find an article of some mothers that are testifying before congress today about how non-profit pregnancy centers have been instrumental in their lives. Some in congress are trying to pass a bill that would burden these teen pregnancy centers. I would argue that Planned Parenthood needs some attention on this issue. Watch the information they give to women considering an abortion at Planned Parenthood in Indiana once again caught on video. Values Voter News is sensitive to men and women who have made a wrong choice on the issue of abortion. So hearing about stories of women and men who have made the loving choice may be condemning. If you are in that position may I suggest a read of the testimony of the very Roe of Roe v Wade who was in large part the cause of the legalization of abortion in 1973 at Video: Download new iPad app from Pampers that proves life before birth or Testimony of the very Roe of Roe v Wade after finding forgiveness in Christ for her sins. Once abortion activist now trying to reverse Roe v Wade

Apparently today women are testifying before Congress of how Pregnancy Center have helped them make the right decision in not aborting their children. LifeSiteNews.com has this report titled Moms Take Babies Saved from Abortion by Pregnancy Help Centers to Congress as "... U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) would introduce a bill, known as the "Stop Deceptive Advertising for Women’s Services Act," to restrict the activities of pregnancy resource centers....":

"...One of the testifying moms, Danica Fountain of Arizona, says she felt pressured to abort her baby before she arrived at the Women’s Center of Tucson, a local pregnancy resource center. “I was absolutely shocked to see that this so called ‘blob of tissue,’ the term I so commonly heard people use when referencing a pregnancy this early on, was in fact a fully formed baby! She had a head, arms and legs," says Fountain.

“When I saw my baby’s heart beating I knew I would do anything to protect my child."
Fountain is scheduled to meet with members of Congress this week. “The emotional support I received from the pregnancy center helped me realize that I could succeed as a single mom," she said. "So I continued in my full time position at the bank, knowing they were there if I needed more encouragement or practical help.  I can never thank the Women’s Center of Tucson enough.”....

“Congress needs to hear from the women served by nonprofit pregnancy centers,” said Heartbeat President Peggy Hartshorn. Praising the moms for sacrificing their time for the campaign, Hartshorn added, “This is a testament to the fact that our elected officials need to support public policy that preserves the bond between mother and child.”

“These moms and babies put real faces on the abortion issue as they testify to the fact that pregnancy help centers are serving communities by uniting thousands of individuals passionate about life,” said Heartbeat Director of Public Policy/PR Virginia Cline...."

The deficit stood at only $161 billion under Bush policies in 2007 so what happened from 2008 to 2009 to cause our trillion dollar deficits.

Related: Video: Mike Pence and Paul Ryan talk about the tax increases soon to hit our economy to fund our Government that hasn't even set a budget this year...

For most this is not to hard to answer but for those who are sitting under the preaching of the left and our current Democrat lead congress and White House it may be difficult. With all the blame on Bush policies being thrown around on our deficit let us remember that in 2007 the deficit was only $161 billion and was going in the right direction until 2008. And everybody knows what happened in 2008. It was not Bush tax cuts nor policies it was the economic crisis. A crisis that was a result of the inability of congress to properly regulate their own Government Sponsored Enterprises enterprises in the Mortgage industry. For more on that see GSE Fannie Mae and Private Sector Countrywide exposed on CBS as big players in our current economic crisis.. But I would also recommend for a better and more understanding of what is really driving our deficit see below article and During Bush years budget deficit was being reduced, more jobs were lost after 9/11 than after economic crisis in 2008 and more jobs were being created so why are we blaming Bush tax cuts for our deficit? and What is driving our deficit? and Brian Riedl responds via CBO to those claiming that Bush tax cuts to the wealthy is the cause of the deficit.

The Bush Tax Cuts and the Deficit Myth-From The Heritage Foundation.

President Obama and congressional Democrats are blaming their trillion-dollar budget deficits on the Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003. Letting these tax cuts expire is their answer. Yet the data flatly contradict this "tax cuts caused the deficits" narrative. Consider the three most persistent myths:

• The Bush tax cuts wiped out last decade's budget surpluses. Sen. John Kerry (D., Mass.), for example, has long blamed the tax cuts for having "taken a $5.6 trillion surplus and turned it into deficits as far as the eye can see." That $5.6 trillion surplus never existed. It was a projection by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) in January 2001 to cover the next decade. It assumed that late-1990s economic growth and the stock-market bubble (which had already peaked) would continue forever and generate record-high tax revenues. It assumed no recessions, no terrorist attacks, no wars, no natural disasters, and that all discretionary spending would fall to 1930s levels.

The projected $5.6 trillion surplus between 2002 and 2011 will more likely be a $6.1 trillion deficit through September 2011. So what was the cause of this dizzying, $11.7 trillion swing? I've analyzed CBO's 28 subsequent budget baseline updates since January 2001. These updates reveal that the much-maligned Bush tax cuts, at $1.7 trillion, caused just 14% of the swing from projected surpluses to actual deficits (and that is according to a "static" analysis, excluding any revenues recovered from faster economic growth induced by the cuts).

The bulk of the swing resulted from economic and technical revisions (33%), other new spending (32%), net interest on the debt (12%), the 2009 stimulus (6%) and other tax cuts (3%). Specifically, the tax cuts for those earning more than $250,000 are responsible for just 4% of the swing. If there were no Bush tax cuts, runaway spending and economic factors would have guaranteed more than $4 trillion in deficits over the decade and kept the budget in deficit every year except 2007.

• The next decade's deficits are the result of the previous administration's profligacy. Mr. Obama asserted in his January State of the Union Address that by the time he took office, "we had a one-year deficit of over $1 trillion and projected deficits of $8 trillion over the next decade. Most of this was the result of not paying for two wars, two tax cuts, and an expensive prescription drug program."

In short, it's all President Bush's fault. But Mr. Obama's assertion fails on three grounds.

First, the wars, tax cuts and the prescription drug program were implemented in the early 2000s, yet by 2007 the deficit stood at only $161 billion. How could these stable policies have suddenly caused trillion-dollar deficits beginning in 2009? (Obviously what happened was collapsing revenues from the recession along with stimulus spending.)

Second, the president's $8 trillion figure minimizes the problem. Recent CBO data indicate a 10-year baseline deficit closer to $13 trillion if Washington maintains today's tax-and-spend policies—whereby discretionary spending grows with the economy, war spending winds down, ObamaCare is implemented, and Congress extends all the Bush tax cuts, the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) patch, and the Medicare "doc fix" (i.e., no reimbursement cuts).

Under this realistic baseline, the 10-year cost of extending the Bush tax cuts ($3.2 trillion), the Medicare drug entitlement ($1 trillion), and Iraq and Afghanistan spending ($515 billion) add up to $4.7 trillion. That's approximately one-third of the $13 trillion in baseline deficits—far from the majority the president claims.

Third and most importantly, the White House methodology is arbitrary. With Washington set to tax $33 trillion and spend $46 trillion over the next decade, how does one determine which policies "caused" the $13 trillion deficit? Mr. Obama could have just as easily singled out Social Security ($9.2 trillion over 10 years), antipoverty programs ($7 trillion), other Medicare spending ($5.4 trillion), net interest on the debt ($6.1 trillion), or nondefense discretionary spending ($7.5 trillion).

There's no legitimate reason to single out the $4.7 trillion in tax cuts, war funding and the Medicare drug entitlement. A better methodology would focus on which programs are expanding and pushing the next decade's deficit up.

• Declining revenues are driving future deficits. The fact is that rapidly increasing spending will cause 100% of rising long-term deficits. Over the past 50 years, tax revenues have deviated little from their 18% of gross domestic product (GDP) average. Despite a temporary recession-induced dip, CBO projects that even if all Bush tax cuts are extended and the AMT is patched, tax revenues will rebound to 18.2% of GDP by 2020—slightly above the historical average. They will continue growing afterwards.

Spending—which has averaged 20.3% of GDP over the past 50 years—won't remain as stable. Using the budget baseline deficit of $13 trillion for the next decade as described above, CBO figures show spending surging to a peacetime record 26.5% of GDP by 2020 and also rising steeply thereafter.

Putting this together, the budget deficit, historically 2.3% of GDP, is projected to leap to 8.3% of GDP by 2020 under current policies. This will result from Washington taxing at 0.2% of GDP above the historical average but spending 6.2% above its historical average.

Entitlements and other obligations are driving the deficits. Specifically, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and net interest costs are projected to rise by 5.4% of GDP between 2008 and 2020. The Bush tax cuts are a convenient scapegoat for past and future budget woes. But it is the dramatic upward arc of federal spending that is the root of the problem.

Our congress is set to allow greater taxes on the American people. Watch the videos below. Whatever. Our economy has been taxed enough already. This is crazy. First our current congress hasn't even set a budget this year see No Budget from Congress for the first time since 1974. Congress to busy spending and regulating they have no time for budgeting. and Video: Paul Ryan's opening statements on the House Budget Committee and in the Weekly Address reveals why the committe has been up to nothing this year. and now they want to increase taxes on those who are actually budgeting and creating jobs via a product the people want so that the government can then in turn tax them more and create monstrous sized deficits for products that ever seem to get more expensive and need continual reform.

We know how difficult it is to reform anything in congress let alone reform it right. Congress couldn't reform the GSE's under Bush as they grew to multi-trillion dollars companies and distorted/destroyed our free market economy (see GSE Fannie Mae and Private Sector Countrywide exposed on CBS as big players in our current economic crisis.). Health care reform barely got done this year and all it did was make us more reliant on this monster of a deficit creating Big Government we have nowadays at a 13 trillion deficit/cost to our economy. We have got to get back to reliance on God, family, limited government and more freedom before we fall under our own weight. See One nation under God and what does it matter? and No matter how great the human resources we throw at our current crisis without God are we bound for failure? and Cartoons and charts exposing economic consequences for America's straying from our "In God we trust" roots and Videos: Give me liberty or Give me death, Don't Tread on Us, Keep the change, Where is America? and a Tea Party Marine

Since when does the government decrease in size via higher taxes!!! Is our current congress actually going to reward our government for not budgeting and paying as you go. Unbelievable....

Public servants running the City of Bell, California are making from $100,000 to $787,637 a year at tax payer's expense.

As you read article below watch Governor Christie of New Jersey get into similar subjects on ABC "This Week" with Tapper. Related: Profits go to those who best please the people as they should unfortunately Big Government has it the other way around. and Are public servants really servants of the public? and Public sector workers enjoy better pay as well as better pensions, shorter hours and eariler retirement than private sector all at tax payers expense in the UK

Public Service Is Not What It Used to Be

Managing the city of Bell, California, is apparently twice as challenging as being President of the United States. The Los Angeles Times reported on July 15, that Bell’s soon-to-be-former Chief Administrative Officer Robert Rizzo earns $787,637 a year.

Bell is not exactly a wealthy metropolis. It is a small, predominantly Hispanic city of 38,000 southeast of Los Angeles. It has a per-capita income of only half the national average—making it the poorest city in Los Angeles County. Yet its city manager makes nearly twice what President Obama does governing the whole country. Rizzo also makes 157 percent more than the Los Angeles County Chief Executive earns managing a city with 100 times more people.

Equally shocking, Bell’s part-time city council members make nearly $100,000 a year. Typically, a city the size of Bell would compensate its council members $400 a month.

Bell’s residents, whose taxes fund these salaries, do not find this amusing. Since this news broke, groups of hundreds of city residents have loudly protested this pay at city council meetings. The citizen pressure has already lead Rizzo to tender his resignation.

Government salaries this lavish are the exception, not the rule. Few city managers make double the President’s salary. But government employees do make more than the private sector workers whose taxes fund their pay.

State and local employees earn an average of $39.81 per hour in wages and benefits while private sector employees earn $27.73. The federal government pays its employees 30–40 percent greater total compensation than they would get in the private sector. Taking a job with the government has increasingly become the way to get ahead. This is neither fair nor sustainable as America struggles through the worst recession in a generation.

Even some liberals recognize this. In the words of former California Assembly Speaker Willie Brown, “at some point, someone is going to have to get honest about the fact that 80 percent of the state, county and city budget deficits are due to employee costs.

Bell’s residents have forced their overpaid city manager out. They may succeed in removing the Mayor and city council that approved paying him so much. However, Rizzo will still get the last laugh. As a retiree, he will soon start collecting $652,252 a year in pension benefits and will immediately become the highest paid retiree in the California Public Retirement System. When he turns 62, his pension will jump to $976,771 a year. When he turns 64, his pension benefits will rise to over $1 million annually. He is part of the reason that California has $500 billion in unfunded pension liabilities.
Remember that the next time politicians insist that they have no other choice but to raise your taxes.

Click here to watch debate live as the Senate debates the Disclose Act which apparently doesn't have enough votes yet. Susan Collins is a no vote as of last night and Lieberman will not be at vote so it appears in trouble.

Below is copied from earlier Values Voter News post at Democrats are blocking the passage of the Disclosure Act as much as Republicans

The Disclose Act is full of special interest unfairness. Pure hypocrisy from the democrats!!! And then to slander Republicans for not voting on this special interest bill. The NRA got a deal where their organization will not have to be held to the same standard as others but read further below for a group on the left that gets a deal. Hardly an anti-special interest bill!!!

President Obama once again comes out and condemns Republicans for the Democrats inability to gain consensus on the Disclose Act. Here is link to that speech. But what he didn't tell you was that this bill is one sided as Susan Collins a moderate Republican who will vote with Democrats at times explains from ABCNews last night:
Collins said through a spokesman this afternoon that she will not support the bill in its current form.

The bill would provide a clear and unfair advantage to unions, while either shutting other organizations out of the election process or subjecting them to onerous reporting requirements that would not apply to unions,” Collins’ press secretary Kevin Kelley told ABC News.
Senator Collins also believes that it is ironic that a bill aimed at curtailing special interests in the election process provides so many carve outs and exemptions that favor some grassroots organizations over others. This too is simply unfair.

In otherwords this bill only allows those special interest organizations that support Democrats to not have to go through loops for political free speech. This is something that has caused a lot of opposition from pro-life groups. As far as Unions spending money on elections check out Two influential labor unions will spend $100 million in 2010 elections to keep our current unpopular congress in office. and Video: Government Unions vs Tax Payers and Service Employees International Union spends 85 million on electing Democrats and Obama writes "I owe these unions" and Union: “We spent a fortune to elect Barack Obama – $60.7 million to be exact – and we’re proud of it.” Obama: "I owe those unions." No wonder Democrats don't want a fair bill. This bill is special interest bill itself!!!

Husband of Shirley Sherrod actually thinks the upcoming elections are about white people stealing the elections from black people

Unbelievable video below.....This is the husband of Shirley Sherrod who was recently called on to resign from her position at the USDA but then was offered her job back. Some actually believe that these elections in 2010, Fox News and the Tea Party are about white people stealing the elections and racism. Below first video is a second video where Howard Dean is calling out Fox News for reporting on the story that got Shirley's resignation when actually Fox News did not report on the story until after she was called to resign. See Fox News did not report on video that caused USDA resignation till after USDA and White House called for her resignation.

Keep in mind that America elected President Obama and the same America is not liking our President's policies and that is why his approval ratings have gone from the 60's to the 40's. Unemployment is high and our deficit has skyrocketed since Democrats took control of congress in 2006. There are many other reasons why Americans have low approval ratings of the White House and our congress and the elections in 2010 will reflect that. There may be a racist here or there but I am sure they did not vote for Obama in 2008 anyways. There vote would have been a no in 2008 as much as in 2010. No this election has nothing to do with race. Some just need to conclude with a conclusion more in line with the evidence that America is not as left as some think it is or should be. Simple as that....

CBS exposes Fannie Mae's relationship with private sector Countrywide as big players in our current economic crisis and check out Governor Christie in NJ closing an $11 billion state deficit without raising taxes

Last Week In Review

The cartoon to the left makes a point but really the White House only has the power to veto the bills passed by congress. You really have to look at who is running congress for the past 4 years and therein lies as much blame if not more than the White House for those last 4 years (see Congress at lowest approval rating ever since 1973 according to Gallup). But not only that you can look at the politics behind our financial crisis, also. Below headlines highlights what one Governor in New Jersey has done to reign in Big Government without taxing the capital in the free market that needs to be used for job creation and the financial crisis and a major player in our financial crisis that we are in.

Headlines

Fannie Mae and Countrywide

GSE Fannie Mae and Private Sector Countrywide exposed on CBS as big players in our current economic crisis. which goes a long way in explaining how the government played a huge role in the housing bubble that burst and brought down our economy in 2008.  Also see Alan Greenspan: "Mortgage backed securities was heavily driven by Fannie and Freddie" who were in return politically mandated. Thus the sub-prime market that bubbled and then burst has government breath all over it.

The House and Senate agenda for this week

Also, to watch some of the below Committees in action and video of the House and Senate floor go to CSPAN. For more on CSPAN see Private Sector America gives Americans the transparency they want without media bias for free and without taxation via CSPAN..

House and Senate Cloakroom: July 26-30, 2010

House Cloakroom: July 26-30, 2010

Analysis:

One week remains in the House before members head home for the August recess. There is a variety of legislation that could be coming to the floor, but the main theme of the week will be attempts by the House leadership to pass the FY 2010 War Funding Supplemental to provide emergency funds to military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Senate late last Thursday evening passed the they had originally passed in May of $58.8 billion and rejected the House approved version that included domestic spending for programs ranging from bailout money to the states to Pell Grant extensions. The House will more than likely pass the version sent over from the Senate and attempt to find other legislative vehicles to tag the domestic spending to even though they have found no way to offset that spending.
House Appropriations moved forward last week on the first of two appropriation bills to reach the House floor this week. The Military Construction/Veteran Affairs and Transportation/Housing & Urban Development appropriation bills will possibly be considered.
Finally, the House will likely consider legislation in response to the BP oil spill. There are three different bills that could reach the floor involving a variety of energy and safety proposals. The Obama administration’s current deepwater drilling moratorium has resulted in a huge decline of approved shallow-water drilling permits, thus placing more negative economic impacts on an already hard-hit area.

Major Floor Action:
  • H.R. 4899 – FY 2010 War Funding Supplemental
  • H.R. 5822 – Military Construction-Veteran Appropriations Bill
  • Transportation-HUD Appropriations Bill (Text not available)
  • “Oil Spill” Legislation – H.R. 3534 – CLEAR Act, H.R. 5629 – Oil Spill Accountability and Environmental Protection Act, and H.R. 5626 – Blowout Prevention Act could all possibly come to the floor next week.
Major Committee Action:
Senate Cloakroom: July 26-30, 2010

Analysis:

The Senate is scheduled to be in session for only two more weeks until they break for the August recess, and Senator Reid still seems to want to push through as much legislation as possible before the break.
Senator Reid filed cloture on the DISCLOSE Act last Thursday evening, so a procedural vote to proceed to that bill will take place on Tuesday. Also, the Senate rejected the House version of the War Supplemental late Thursday night, forcing Senator Reid to send a less expensive Senate version of the bill back to the House for consideration.
The Small Business Lending Bill is still pending in the Senate, and Senator Reid is still insisting he will try to pass a watered down energy bill next week. The Senate is also scheduled to vote on Solicitor General Kagan’s nomination to the Supreme Court before leaving for August recess.

Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth...my fingers to fight

For all you pro-life, faith, family, salvation and freedom fighters out there I found this verse applicable via JillStanek.com.

"Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight"-Psalm 144:1

Scriptures teach that modesty is just as much a sign of Godliness as prayer is.

"I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works."-1 Timothy 2:8-10

I just found this an interesting verse and the issue of modesty is right up there with prayer.

Now Paul says "therefore" at the beginning of this verse and so it is important to know for what reason the Scriptures "desire...that men pray...and...in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves".

First off Paul starts off in 1 Timothy 2 that he "exhorts first of all that...prayers...and...thanks be made for all men...that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness..." why? "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved..." then he goes on to explain that he is "speaking the truth in Christ" and was "appointed...a preacher and an apostle". And then the verse above.

So the next time somebody tries to undermine the issue of modesty send them to this verse and let the Holy Spirit do the rest in due time.

This is one reason why Values Voter News will not post video of women who are not all that modest and has turned off the related videos on our embedded youtube videos. For more on that see about site.

Related: What does praying for kings and modesty have in common?
Modesty is more than what you wear on the outside it's a reflection of one's beliefs and attitudes from the heart.
