LifeNews.com reports that Obama's new budget includes tax payer funding of abortions in our nation's capital.

"Although Congress has banned taxpayer-funded abortions in D.C. for years, the budget Obama released today, on Appendix page 1209 asks Congress to repeal the ban."

"The abortion industry's own studies suggest that many thousands of residents of the nation's capital are alive today because of the abortion funding ban that President Obama now proposes to repeal"

From 1988 until 1993, Congress annually included the ban on the use of congressionally appropriated funds to pay for abortions in the District of Columbia.

The ban was rescinded during the early years of the Clinton administration and reinstated in 1996, though Johnson points out that the Washington city government illegally continued to pay for abortions for two subsequent years."

LifeNews.com reports further bad news for tax payer funding of immorality that Barack Obama's federal budget eliminates funding for abstinence-only education.

"In Obama's FY 2010 Proposed Budget, the president calls for at least $164 million in funding for contraceptive-only education. The money includes competitive grants, research, evaluation and authorization for $50 million in new mandatory condom grants to states, tribes and territories."

"Meanwhile, the National Abstinence Education Association said Obama's anti-abstinence budget “disregards the growing body of evidence supporting the effectiveness of abstinence education,” including research showing “a 50% decrease in sexual onset among teens that are enrolled in abstinence programs.”
“At a time when teens are subjected to an increasingly sexualized culture, it is essential that common-sense legislators from both sides of the aisle reject this extreme attempt to de-fund the only approach that removes all risk,” said NAEA Executive Director Valerie Huber."

"This is the second time Obama has called for less abstinence funding. In the omnibus spending bill Obama signed earlier this year, abstinence programs received $95 million, a substantial reduction from the $151 million they previously received."

Then LifeNews.com reports that Obama's budgets pays for abortion litigation at tax payers expense!!!

"Under Obama's plan, direct funding of abortion litigation would be prohibited, but LSC grantees could shift other taxpayer funds to a separate account for pro-abortion activities.

As National Right to Life Committee legislative director Douglas Johnson tells LifeNews.com, pro-life advocates have opposed this fungible move for years as, similar arrangements in previous years allowed LSC grantees to file legal challenges against pro-life laws using taxpayer funds.

"Back in the 1980s, some Legal Services Corporation grantees were deeply involved in pro-abortion litigation, until Congress told the LSC to stay out of either side of the abortion fight," Johnson recalls."

"Now, the Obama White House wants to remove the laws that stopped LSC pro-abortion activism, and replace them with bookkeeping requirements that are essentially meaningless," he explains.

Although it is a small move that won't garner much media attention, Johnson says allowing the LSC to engage in pro-abortion legal activities merely adds to Obama's growing pro-abortion record.

"This is just one more example of the Obama Administration's relentless, step-by-step, week-by-week advancing of the pro-abortion agenda, even as it distracts the gullible with chatter about how they are seeking 'common ground' and 'abortion reduction,'" he concluded. "We say, watch what they are doing, not what they are saying."
